Fleck E.S.C. returns to Woodwork with a 4-track perpetration of spectacular dark electro bleeding the expected precarious charm, swagger, mystery, and menace. 'Walking Free' chronicles a twisted engagement of nefarious themes masked behind infectious funk and a pervading air of trepidation.

Opening with a psychotic grin, 'B-Love' sets up a dank backdrop of brick and bloodstains, bearing its sharpened teeth and flashing its sonic switchblades, setting a most comfortable mood of panic and constriction.

Easing the pressure slightly wih a malevolent smile, 'Walking Free' blends the best of Fleck's relentless break styles and quirky effects manipulations, fully-loaded with inescapable synth hooks that casually seize and strangle with delicate aggression.

'New Schedule' creeps up from behind, breathing heavy and rubbing itself on thick with stark precision bass hits and minimal chunky beats. From the outset, perpetual tension rises, occasionally releasing its grasp to toy with the victim in a tight, murderous groove.

The EP wraps with 'Unmatched Decay', a disorienting movement that crafts psychogenic disturbances through electro-shock seizures. Infectious low end sludge bounces through it's shattering sonic space, subtly closing in as the bars clang shut.

Here is a piece about seeing challenges as new opportunities to grow, evolve, and make something better out of the decadence of the present and the ruins of the past. Instead of fighting a futile war against the positive winds of change, there is another way: an embrace of radical transformation for the sake of humanity and the dignity of all people.

The title comes from a pamphlet written by avant-garde artist Dom Sylvester Houédard, a Benedictine monk primarily known for "typestracts:" works on paper made using a typewriter and existing somewhere between architecture, graphic design, and poetry. In the pamphlet, Houédard discusses the idea of ADA (auto-destructive art): “the frozen (in art as in society) is death — but life implies change & the death of successive states — it implies the transformation of past into future thru an ephemeral constantly destroyed present. This is the basic element in ADA." An application of ADA to politics and economics seems especially urgent. The broken systems in place all over the world, leaning towards fascism, extraction, and hoarding, require transformation and must be replaced with working systems that value human beings and the planet.

ADA is also applicable to the body and identity. To some extent, many of us have all changed, manipulated, or reinvented our bodies and minds, and some of these changes may be perpetual or continuous. Among other things, the EP deals with gender transition and hormone replacement therapy, which reroutes the connections of the mind and transforms the body in an ongoing way, catalyzing not a total upheaval, but an evolution of one's person. Active destruction of parts of the self through ADA incites constructive growth and greater connectedness with the world. Houdedard writes: destruction = redistribution = change. Italian The Villains Inc. moves up a gear with its fourth release to date and already the second in less than a year! Conscious “Time To Go Back EP” introduces the exclusive collaboration between label owner Gab.Gato (Dominance Electricity, Drivecom, SolarOne) and his partner in crime Jack Bags (La Sabbia) from Milan. Together, they drop an untouchable dancefloor oriented five tracker based upon a terrific concept. Coming from the year 2106 with a preventive message to save Earth from manhandled destruction, scientist Dr Boomer understands how much it’s too late to prevent the planet from Armageddon.

A side opens with insane “Man Of The Future”. a pure analogical time machine merging whispers a la Egyptian Lover to heading vocoder sequences over a sharp 808 programming. Luminous and hypnotizing at the same, this oldschool anthem is instantly followed by enthusiastic “No Permission”. A groovy bassline melt with acidic loops turns the song into a masterpiece enhanced by funny vocal scanding “You Have No Permission To Get Into My Head”. Top notch! With its fierce rhythm and relentless beats, title track “Time To Go Back” coming next signs an ode to the glorious days of West Coast electro sound. Vintage sororities fuse into cutting-edge drums while a funky atmosphere will propel you through time and space. Ace!

The flipside goes deeper into the realm serving up what appears as the climax of the EP. Combining gloomy strings to progressive swirls and ethereal chords, well named “Darkness” delivers a scary yet prophetic message from the future that will spread guilty feelings to any listener: “There Will Be No Light, No Hope…”. You have been warned! Last cut “The Bad Place” concludes the 12” on a soulful note regarding the state of our world controlled by government and technology.

Completed by a fantastic comic style artwork, awaken and despair “Time To Go Back EP” offers an outstanding retrofuturist release from which no one will come out unscathed. One of the best outings in The Villains Inc. so far, rush on it!
