Rekids regular Markus Suckut drops his third album entitled ‘Heaven Is A State Of Mind’ this September.

When not helming his own imprints, SCKT and Pattern Research, the Düsseldorf artist has been releasing on Rekids since 2015 and is now a core member of the label’s family. Earlier this year saw the arrival of ‘New Life EP’, a mesmerising release exemplary of the producer’s knack for making imaginative house and techno complete with a compelling groove. No stranger to the long player format having released two albums previously, Markus Suckut returns to Radio Slave’s label with a quality eleven track album.

From the word go Suckut’s album demonstrates his versatility as a musician, initiating with a beatless intro named ‘Escape’, before ‘Breeze’ comes into play with its skipping percussion and loopy atmospherics. Crunchy snares and crystalline synths make up ‘Sun’s Out’ whilst ‘Future Is Not Always Bright’ drives forward with its sultry low-end, ethereal pads and sci-fi bleeps, leading into ‘Take A Break’ and its medley of elaborate drums, living up to its name.

‘Above The Clouds’ is comprised of intricate notes and soothing chords whilst the machinelike ‘Orchid’ features electro inspired melodies, contrasting to the album’s title track, ‘Heaven Is A State Of Mind’, with its bumpy bass and warping textures. ‘Wonderland (Version)’ is a ghostly acid cut, moving into the syncopated and ominous ‘We Will All Disappear One Day’ and its purring bassline until a moody two-step number entitled ‘Death Is Not Final’ ties it all together with twisted sequences and trippy effects.

For its 303rd release, Tresor Records is glad to present a commissioned work by Donato Dozzy.

Rome based production maestro and DJ extraordinaire Donato Dozzy is unanimously considered as an illustrious leading light in all techno artforms.

Along his long career and extensive discography, Dozzy has proven to use his instruments most interesting ways, always re-inventing his music, always presenting new approaches to both the deeper and the more rhythmic forms of electronic music. It was self-evident to Tresor Records to enroll Donato Dozzy’s talents for this assignment, a nod to the seminal Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer.

The result is a relentless collection of radical, propulsive and bleeding-heart acid tracks. In Dozzy’s words.

My label Stockholm LTD turned 15 recently, so I decided it was time for a little celebration. I'm happy and grateful for the past, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next. Here's how it all started:

Södermalm, Stockholm 1999. The capacity of the store was probably less than 20. The cold and industrial-tinged interior featured ash grey walls, rust-free steel accents, and a magnificently elevated cashier desk. The ceiling was an impressive 3.5 meters with two massive speakers hanging above the cashier. Shelves and bins stocked with vinyl, tapes, and magazines covered the walls. In the storefront, you would find the listening stations with turntables that sit nicely inside their desks. While you listened to the week’s new releases, you’d be treated to a view of the blooming streets of Södermalm as people rushed by. There was a small sign with operating hours in the window which also said “TECHNO / ELECTRO. Welcome to Illegal Stockholm!”

Illegal Stockholm was founded by Tobias Von Hofsten and myself in late 1998. It became our home, blood, sweat, and tears for a good 4-5 years. I was only 18 years old at the time and still in school when we opened its doors. I couldn’t think of anything cooler or more fun than hanging out, talking and listening to music all day and night. After we closed the shop at night. We would hang in the ‘office’ which was the store’s back room. I forged life life-long friendships and gave birth to the idea of Stockholm LTD. I wanted to show people a slightly different side of our scene. The original idea was to keep the recording artist secret with no names announced on the release, but the idea fell flat as people figured it out the day of our first release. Since then, the concept of the label has changed a few times but the core idea and desire remains the same: releasing timeless electronic music.

Stockholm LTD has stood the test of time, it’s not that many labels that stay current for that long. This is only possible with the help of all the artists I’ve been working with over the years. To say I am extremely grateful is an understatement!

With this in mind, let’s celebrate the label’s 15th anniversary with a 5 part release! 15Y contains remixes by some of my favorite artists at the moment. They have all picked and reworked something from my part of the label’s back catalog. The series will stretch out over a set of 5 vinyl singles with a special anniversary sleeve and a beautiful engraving made by graphic designer Håkan Ullberg

Hard at work for over a decade now, EDND is one of those artists whose influence on her local scene rolls deep and yet feels subtle - she's been silently honing her craft surrounded by a healthy mix of VSTs, classic drum machines and second-hand synthesisers of all kinds in her home town of Portimão. She's also never stopped playing a part as an important cultural agitator in the south of Portugal and Lisbon alike, taking part in jam sessions or community-led parties in all sorts of DIY venues, as well as gracing established clubs and festivals with hers and her duo's Roundhouse Kick mesmerising live acts.

For her first solo EP 'Rupture of Plane', EDND finds a fitting home at Paraíso, where she explores the border between inventive experimentation and dancefloor effectiveness. The opener 'Quartz Composer' layers a bouncy bassline with mystery-drenched melodies and carefully sound designed percussive elements while the sparse vocal inspires a state of loving ecstasy. The infectious rawness of 'Field Effects' follows; its visceral, playful kickdrum pacing a dizzyingly trippy synth and an enticing suggestion of the rougher side of acid. 'While Sleeping Watch' ensues, bringing an even moodier, industrial-leaning piece of top-form EBM and techno. Paraíso regular Photonz steps in for a powerful rework of Quartz Composer, infusing it with a tough, whole new broken electro groove and an addictive synth re-design.

John Lord Fonda is back !

The new opus of a French techno veteran, who has distinguished in the past on Vitalic's label, Citizen Records. After 2 albums with his crazy "Personnal Jesus" remix, he comes back on A-traction records.

The French producer, has always skillfully mixed Rave sounds and dark melodies. With this Ep, we can find all his influences.
"Fear of the unknown" comes in 2 versions with devastating kicks and hypnotic vocals, the first one with its ultra saturated bass line takes us directly back to the 90's while the second version is a concentrate of explosive acid for the dance floor.
"The Oxcart", with percussive groove, it takes us back to a more stratospheric but no less effective fly !

John Lord Fonda is back with what he knows how to do best: efficient techno with a chiseled production and sharp melodies to accompany this chaotic end of 2020.

Czech dream-pop / indie-folk duo @teepeeband share a new music video of the song ‘Closer’ together with new techno remix of the song from @affects. 

The video is an audio-visual poem directed and shot by Tomáš Koucký and his team from Old & Rich Production that tells a story about proximity. The idea of the music video was initiated by the 30 years celebration of Garden Architecture Kurz. Koucký wanted to honour the outstanding work of the garden architect Aleš Kurz and pay a tribute to the beautiful places that he created in Prague. The story is set in the magical gardens of Zbraslav, well known Celtic cemetery in Dolní Břežany, and the rooftop garden of the famous “DRN” building in the city centre of Prague, all designed by Kurz. The video stars Barbora Hankeová and Šimon Bilina.

 

"This spring, in the strange quarantine time, we approached our favourite duo teepee and created this audio-visual poem. I hope and believe that together with their intimate song ‘closer’ it will inspire people so that this year's social distancing is only a temporary affair and we can meet soon without masks. Funnily enough, I am writing this on the first day of my upcoming 10 days quarantine... I am fascinated by the final form of the music video and I am curious what the response will be among its viewers. This is actually the first time that I’ve created a music video, from the theme to its final form.” says Koucký.

“The song ‘Closer’ is about love but not necessarily a romantic one. The kind of love that is always there to guide you back home when you are losing yourself. It is about proximity and relationships with people who are always there for you, no matter what happens.” adds the band.

Posh Isolation is proud to present the latest work from Copenhagen's quietly iconoclastic artist Frederik Valentin. Arriving in two halves, '0011001' & '0011000' together transport a suite of songs and compositions that render life's beauty in the same breath as life's binding determinations.

'0011001' is the first element of this twofold work, and it features Fine Glindvad, best known as the vocalist of the group Chinah, and the Copenhagen-based American vocalist Jeuru, a familiar voice in Valentin's catalogue.

As if catalysing all those who came into his orbit in the last years, Valentin has ushered in a dextrous and unassuming body of work as a willing collaborator and confidant. The most recent product of these engagements was his second album with Loke Rahbek, 'Elephant,' a work that pensively ricochets around the synthetic scaffolding of a wonderous acoustic environment, tracing songs as it goes. Preceding this was Valentin's breath-taking duo KYO with Hannes Norrvide. 2018 saw the release of 'All The Same Dream,' a full-length collaboration with vocalist Jeuru, which fantasised a rougher, granular edifice on top of the empyrean metropolis that was imagined with each previous release with Norrvide. Working with Yung Lean, Valentin was the producer of his album 'Nectar' as Jonatan Leandoer127, and also worked on a commissioned production for Sweden's Cullberg Ballet in 2018.

Valentin's new works, '0011001' & ‘0011000', do not abstain from collaborations, though on this occasion the authorship and breadth of scope remain entirely his own. As Valentin himself describes the album, "This is the space between becoming a father and losing my mother. All within one year, the space between zero and one." This is reflected in the two titles. Each is a binary representation of 0 and 1. Across the album, the space between these two thematic points is rendered in exquisitely gentle meditations on the quavering beauty that can be found herewith. "This is the infinite joy and unavoidable beauty of decay. This is from nothing to everything to nothing to everything to ... This is the sound of determinations, the entity of numbers."

Kindled from the gravity of these turbulent moments and experiences, Valentin has produced a twofold album that stands as his most accomplished and moving work to date. Throughout both '0011001' & '0011000' there is a gracious and elegiac instrumentation that knits a steady presence of electronic parts into perfectly balanced song-like structures. Never over-reaching with his experimentalist impulses, and never employing predictability to resolve a composition, Valentin has produced a suite of works that encourage a blissful, deep listening whilst retaining the ensnaring rapture of pop. If his deft ability as a multi-instrumentalist wasn't obvious from any one of his previous collaborations, it is perhaps on show most succinctly here. Likewise, Valentin's compositions and arrangements capture a maturity and earnest intensity that has not been revealed until now.

This is the Premiere of the First track of Humagn's second release on Instinkt Lab. The 4 Track EP comes with 2 original tracks by the artist and 2 remixes by Schimmer Records founder Egotot. "Tribal Dub" shines with rythmic congas and a captivating monotony paired with a powerful vocal and a dark atmosphere.
Founded by Jonathan Kribus aka Kribs and Miles Pinkert in February 2020, Instinkt Lab is an independent label for timeless techno, ambient and experimental music. The label limits its public appearance to a minimum. By now they released 5 EPs [including this one] from very ambitious artists. At least the same number of releases are just waiting to be published. The second wave brings artists such as Levzon (Amsterdam), Alexandre Leaddis (Barcelona) and Juri Heidemann (Berlin) and a event series in Cologne is also pending.
