Kutkh Jackdaw releases a previously unavailable track from the archives, with proceeds going to humanitarian aid in Ukraine. 'Innocents' was produced in 2015, and is an intriguing combination of industrial and post-punk, with dubstep and bass music influences.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. His debut release, the 'Sweat & Thunder EP' was released on Dark Disco, and he has also had tracks released on Lunacy, Sonidos Subterraneos, and Of Dolls & Murder.

Ellen Allien and the We Are Not Alone collective are back with a second edition of the We Are Not Alone series. A 36-track compilation split into 3 parts, each consisting of 12 cuts, dedicated to the infamous We Are Not Alone event series and the best of Berlin’s underground techno talent.

Ellen Allien's innovative party series We Are Not Alone was launched in 2016 and remains committed to inviting an exciting crew of artists to perform at the 36 hour events, now in a new home at RSO.BERLIN, where they returned with bang over 36 hours and 3 floors in May.

The We Are Not Alone compilation features artists that have played at the parties, as well as those who will join the line-up for future events. The 4th, 5th and 6th parts include music by Ellen and established names such as Thomas P. Heckmann, Dollkraut & DJ Europarking, Francois X, Phase Fatale and Etapp Kyle. Rising stars Nene H, Nur Jaber, Stephanie Sykes, Wallis and Métaraph. BPitch signings include Rosa Anschütz, Shaleen, Matasism and Uncrat.

For this instalment of the series, Ellen Allien collaborates with esteemed director and photographer Stini Roehrs for the multidisciplinary project ‘’AFTER DARK – Emotional States of Techno’’, consisting of a virtual rave film, book and exhibition produced by AKKURAT Studios, and the We Are Not Alone VA, which is to be released physically and digitally via BPitch.

The next We Are Not Alone parties take place at RSO, Berlin in July, August and October of this year. 22nd July, CSD weekend, is set to be a single night event on two floors. 20th August a We Are Not Alone floor during the RSO Club Festival and then we’ll be back for over 30 hours on 15th & 16th October. PREMIERE : L.F.T. - Hypothetical Revenge

With the VOI 031 Voitax enters a new series of releases that will continue to expand the labels explorative musical and visual output with more talent. The series kicks off with no one less than IMOGEN, who was bursting out on the scene only a few years ago. Ever since, she established herself as an ambitious selector behind the decks and became a prominent figure in the world of dance music. Growing up in the UK, her mother introduced her to the early 00’s rave and break music, such as Plump DJs, Colin Father and Leftfield, which ultimately set a start to a promising path into the electronic music scene. Still heavily influenced by their music, IMOGEN made a move to London at an early age to eventually study electronic music. She was quickly absorbed by the city's rich musical culture and became an active player in the club and radio circuit. By now she has become a respected artist in Europe, having played major stages in clubs as well as at festivals.

Belgium’s Helsmoortel makes a welcome return to Avoidant with his brand new release, the Belgica EP. With previous tracks featuring on the Distortion Strategy & Dark Planet VAs, the up and coming producer steps out on his own for his first full EP on the label. 

The raw power of RTT opens the EP as razor sharp synths buzz across an electrified percussive workout. Etiz warps reality around it with twisting, funked out synths fizzling over a straight up, robotic beat. The darker, malevolent tones of Engie bring an air of foreboding with deep, sweeping pads transporting you to otherworldly landscapes. Motions closes out the EP on a more retro tip whilst retaining Helsmoortel’s unique and expertly crafted sound design as snapping snares drive across a sea of emotive melodies, craftily chopped vocals and proper machine funk beats.

Distorbing Ancient

Switching within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion's full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor's Kern series, lashing together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music.

Scorched-earth missives attract metals and mining chemicals, leaving little in its wake but aggravated and chaotic experiments of lateral hypotheses in acid brine. Like a hyperloop through this labyrinth, this high-velocity future is both beautiful and evil, glinting embers through low-bit fogged-out clusters. 100 metre-high aluminium pylons vibrate, each captivated by their electrified foundations. There is no place for dust to settle on the floor. Where a loose TB-tribalism knocks switches and pounds upward synaptic shocks, life down there is too rapid. Not to be taken lying down, this is the viable path forward without the shackles of turgid passivity. The effect is no less thrilling than crucial, as it presents an essential DJ of our times.

Settling into swift 150bpm groove, Hauff ploughs through shepherd-tone electro, ghetto bumps, and grizzled techno. A new collaborative track with Morah plays a rough game of meter, with Hauff's signature sound clear as ever ripping apart new dimensions with a brutal disorder over deceptive bass synths. The visceral crunch of the present is no more clear than at the halfway point, a threshold in which the breakneck electro falls apart, with the rabid foam of Nasenbluten's ballsy gabber anthem Intellectual Killer. Slowly more room to breathe comes into view, the pace drawn down revealing a strange sense of resolution, with expansive synths hinting at a beckoning euphoria. At this moment, Helena Hauff is clearly in full stride, uniquely melding fragile machinations against anarchic human interventions.

Kern Vol.5 releases June 19th 2020, on 2CD, as well as a 3×12″ vinyl edition highlighting the rare and exclusive cuts found in the mix, packed in a full color gatefold sleeve, featuring exclusive photography.
