Following the acclaimed ‘Funfzig LP’ on Rekids in 2021 as well as his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series on the techno focussed Rekids Special Projects, Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s imprint for his latest full length, ‘100% Juice’.

Title track ‘100% Juice’ leads the charge, barreling forward with phased hats and trippy bleeps, before ‘Slush’ carries the rest of the A side with dense synths and stereo trickery. ‘Rainbow’ bridge sees muted chords drifting in and out of focus alongside rattling drum programming before ‘Reverse’ mutates dub techno inspired elements with swathes of spacious FX and pitch-perfect processing. 

Opening the second disc is the aptly titled ‘Wonky Workout’, which sees hard-hitting kicks meeting freaked out leads, followed by the fast-paced ‘I Want’, which brings crunchy, shuffling percussion and effected vocal samples together to devastating effect. The final side of vinyl is the one-two punch of ‘Boxed In’ and ‘Wiggle Me This’, with the former bringing sharp keys, rumbling low end and glistening pads, while the latter closes out the LP with warped acid lines and crisp drums.

Releasing on labels such as Rekids, M-Plant, and Blueprint, the wildly prolific Broom has consistently been at the forefront of the techno scene for decades with his gritty, groove-based output while, away from the dancefloor, his The Fear Ratio project with James Ruskin continues to win critical acclaim.

Two key artists Ken Ishii and M.R.E.U.X come together for a split EP that features three powerful cuts with infernal rhythms and tense grooves designed to make their mark on the dance floor.

Italian M.R.E.U.X. is the Blumoog label boss with a pounding and original take on techno. He last appeared here many times, including on an EP with the legend that is Terrence Dixon and is known for his inventive and reliably big sounds with real reverence for the authentic early originators. Japanese DJ Ken Ishii has long been a vital part of the global underground. His Detroit-inspired techno is slick and futuristic and comes on the most influential labels around.

M.R.E.U.X.'s stylish 'Magic Button' is a percussive and psychedelic workout. It's built from well-constructed loops of drums, synth and percussion. It's dark and menacing and draws you deep into an eerie cosmic world. The excellent 'Fokus' is a modern and refined sound. The drums and bass weave tightly around one another and synths peel off the top. As the intensity grows, hi-hats get bigger and the whole track washes over you into powerful techno waves.

Then comes Ishii's 'Metal Spikes', an unrelenting and head-wrecking cut with lithe and spangled synth loops repeating over the glitchy techno beats. It's a track that will work any dance floor into a frenzy with its corrupted digital melodies and irresistible rhythmic refrain.

These are three well-designed and perfectly execute techno weapons from two of the best in the business.

Fabio Florido recruits an all-star cast of remixers for the latest release on Runa.

Based in Berlin, Fabio Florido is a DJ/producer who has previously released on the likes of Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 and runs his own Run a imprint. Returning to his own label this July, Florido invites Luigi Tozzi, Exos,Amotik, Danny Wabbit, Edgar de Ramon, Insolate, Arthur Robert and Marsch to remix records from his impressive back catalogue on a brand new compilation, yielding thrilling results.

“It's been a little over two and a half years since the launch of my label, Runa. Each release carried a story, a message, or an intention that I wanted to share with those who, like me, were "confined" at home. Thesena rratives were inspired by the mood of the EP, its title, or events happening while I was crafting it.

We are all shaped by experiences accumulated over the past years, which we now apply to our new lives, clubs, and music. So, I invited eight of my favourite artists to remix or reinterpret eight of my tracks, all composed during the pandemic. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Originally released in 1994, ‘Internal Empire’ marks a point of transition for Robert Hood moving on from his previous collaborations within Underground Resistance. Robert Hood advanced uncovering the power of true minimalism. Deep soul through a simplicity that showed how much could be done with so little. The devastating rhythms of this album forge the unmatched spirit of this sound, influencing generations to come.

"25 years ago, I was faced with the challenge of following up on 'Minimal Nation’. I cancelled all my tour dates for that summer, setup my studio in the living room and began to work on 'Internal Empire'. My intention was to create something distinctively different.
