We are super pleased to welcome back Dan Only with a brand new EP on Dirt Crew. Since last year’s debut record “The Wurly Chronicles” Dan has been super busy in the studio working on his sound, experimenting with many genres outside of House. This EP is the product of many late hours in the studio that translate into his unique touch on a wider spectrum of electronic music.

On The A-side you will find that deep and warm House sound we got to know Dan for when we first crossed paths. “Someday” is an exploration into the feeling of hopefulness and uncertainty that comes with looking towards a future state that is unknown. It’s steered by AHKI's bouncing bassline and the chord progression that it inspired. “All That’s Left (Piano Dub Mix)” has a driving groove with a slow reveal. This one carefully unmasks itself and shows its true colors towards the tail-end, leaving you with “All That’s Left”.

The B-side of this 12” is all about breaks, electro, and jungle inspired tunes. The opener “Emulsion” is a balance between light and dark, soft and hard, speeding up and slowing down. The rhythm section drives this one forward, but the melodic elements are slowly pulling back at it, leaving you somewhere in the middle. It's a musical attempt of trying to mix oil into water and having one float on top of the other. "An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible."

“What I Want” comes armed with an S950 and an MS20 – this one is a deep dive into the methods of making break- tinged music of the 90s. Brooding bass-lines and atmospheric melodies take you through the dark Canadian winter months when this was created. Closing with “Breathe”, expect waves of euphoria and gated mantras that'll pull you in and out until a state of bliss washes over you. Let the 909 and bubbling 101 carry you to shore. This one pairs well with deep breathing.

Exclusive Hoshina Anniversary 'Zangai (Ricardo Tobar Remix)'

Amsterdam label MUSAR continues 2019 with another artsy release on the label by Hoshina Anniversary, who delivers four tracks that are taken all together under his 'Zangai EP'. The Tokyo based artist seems to be on fire releasing an album, 'Nihon No Ongaku / 日本の音楽' as well as his long awaited 'Hakkenden EP', recently. No less expected is 'Zangai', a track that has been heavily played out by Lena Willikens and is a driving acid paean. Ricardo Tobar, who was responsible for MUSAR's latest EP 'Nadivi', took on remix duties for the EP's eponymous track. With this remix it becomes clear why Ricardo is one of the producers to look out for. A rolling and rattling bass line rides the listener through the first episode of the track before the lead synth sets in and the rattling is switched off. After that it's darkness that takes over until pad sounds and background layers remain and kind of simulating a musical moment of silence. The aforedescribed rattling then returns and is enriched with bleeps and chords, whose tonal array digs into one's mind as if Tobar planted an anthem in the back of our mind.

Family duo Simple Symmetry make their return to Moscoman's Disco Halal imprint for a fresh four-track EP titled 'Gilgamesh'. Duro's four-year anniversary celebrations continue into 2020 with the second part of their 'Muy Duro' VA release.

Celebrating every explorative sound, feeling and experience the Mexican label has become synonymous with over its short but impactful life so far; across these five tracks the label takes us down a maze of musical rabbit holes. Each one coming from a new friend of the label hailing from Berlin to Buenos Aires, each one designed to suck you right into the groove, each one capturing the essence of what Duro stands for.

Opening duties are taken care of by Fausto. Here the Mexican artist sets the scene with a cosmic voyage. Deep chugs and rippling guitars, 'Rumble' starts us off as we mean to go on. It's followed by Darlyn Vlys' equally mesmerising 'Wuzu'. Big reverbed drums and vivid calls of the wild, it's swampy, intense trip into the rain forests. With no clear way home.

Elsewhere Jepe's 'Rosmarin' takes a darker, heads-down approach with its rumbling acid and switched-up kicks while MORDISCO takes the tempo right down and deftly weaves his Latin roots into a hunched-back, ever-mutating creeper 'Sacromonte'. Last but never ever least, Argentinian duo Carisma live up to their name once again with the heavyweight 'Otro Planeta'. Heavy, moody, spiky and laced with iron kicks and a superb elastic bassline, it's the perfect conclusion to another powerful collection from Duro.

Here's to a new year and a new decade. Duro are only just warming up.
