For our eighteenth instalment we’ve invited MIR, a raw talent emerging from the deep techno scene in Rotterdam. 

MIR, meaning 'peace' or 'community,' was the first modular space station to orbit Earth, aimed at developing the technologies necessary for permanent space habitation. Inspired by this, my musical taste gravitates toward a hypnotic, dark, and ambient sound that captures a deep sense of peace and community – a feeling uniquely found on the dance floor."

Some words about the mix:
When I think of hypnosis, I envision myself standing in front of a crystal-clear sound system, free of any obligations. My only focus is on dancing and drifting away to the hypnotic sounds. With this set, I aimed to recreate that experience—a space where listeners can lose themselves in the music, allowing the rhythm to guide them into a deep, immersive trance, free from distractions.

This is a special mix from KATASTROF, promoting his debut album "Bent", released on Moon Koradji Records on Sep 6, 2024. The album available on Bandcamp and all major streaming resources. Katastrof is the brainchild of Swedish producer Björn Andersson, a solo project crafting deep, dark forest psytrance with a funky twist since 2003. Hailing from Trollhättan, Sweden, Katastrof draws inspiration from horror movies and the high-energy atmosphere of live performances, creating a unique and immersive soundscape.  The debut album, Bent, released on Moon Koradji Records in September, showcases the project's signature style—a blend of nighttime darkness and groovy rhythms. Expect a sonic journey where eerie atmospheres meet infectious grooves, paying homage to the electrifying spirit of the night.

Petrichor is a musical exploration of grief, substance abuse and recovery and is dedicated to friends loved and lost in recent years.

In a moving touch, opening track ‘In Memoriam’ features vocal messages from friends departed - a cathartic and emotional experience for artist and listener both. In contrast, closing track ‘Hemorroid Assteroid’, despite its ambience and drive, drips with humour and recalls a moment of laughter with a best friend.

Just as pain, anger and sadness ultimately become acceptance and growth, this musical journey evolves from darker soundscapes to lighter ones.

Petrichor is the pleasant, earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil and encapsulates a feeling of transmutation: rain that passes and becomes something new, something pleasant.
