Upload explores the musical possibilities achievable through the use of a personal computer. Featuring local LA natives alongside global members of the underground electronic music community, the show proves that one’s resources are not synonymous with the creation of impactful music. In this series, hosts Xen Model unveils fresh new sounds in a diverse range of experimental styles such as ambient, glitch, brain dance, flashchore, and hardcore music.

This month’s episode features special guest, Freestyler.

As founder of the Transatlantic record label, Freestyler consistently showcases his affinity for, and understanding of, club music. In a way, this sonic curation is amplified by his DJ sets. By making unconventional connections that may seem bold, he aims to construct an organic flow between seemingly unrelated sounds in order to show the value – and fun – of versatility.

This mix is the sound of hearts unraveling. Yawning Portal (@yawningportal) is an opening to other worlds: a transmutation, a prayer.

They wake with the taste of static on their tongue, echoes decay: the thread thins…there was never a first note. The atmosphere is serene and distant, with light piercing through swirling mist. Water flows gracefully through the crevices, reflecting shimmering silhouettes — a quiet beauty, gentle and warm, like the shape of love.

Hailing from London, this duo excels at capturing the intricate textures of sound, moving seamlessly between delicate field recordings and refined sampling. They released their debut EP Heart and Earth in 2020 via PLZ Make it Ruins and have since released singles via Odyxxey, Slagwerk, Club Paradiso & 29 Speedway and YEAR0001’s RIFT compilation. They scored Lydia Ourahmane’s immersive installation Survival in the Afterlife at Portikus, Frankfurt alongside an hourlong digital release Notice the Direction of Fires and collaborated with Ourahmane again to score the film Tassili; the film has since been presented at museums and institutions internationally. Since 2020 they have hosted under sleepy moon, a monthly show on NTS radio.
