Various Artists “A Souvenir From #1”


The latest release for Tiefschwarz’s Souvenir imprint is a 4-track EP of various creative artistry which opens an exciting new chapter in the labels history. This project focuses on a unique sound palette made for both leftfield headphone listening sessions as well as for the more rebellious dancefloors worldwide. Entitled ‘A Souvenir From’ Tiefschwarz have curated the first edition of an awesome sonic keepsake designed for both the DJ and the fans alike. A release which helps speak the language of music in a new voice, from assorted artists worldwide offering the listener a personal gift of inspiration.

Starting out the EP is ‘Ever Smaller Birds’ from American turned Berliner, Kenneth Scott. The artist, who’s releases will appear on Circus Company and Vakant (amongst others) provides an incredible broken beat slab of whimsical dancefloor electronica which would suit perfectly amongst the Four Tet fanatics and early morning electro wizards alike. 

Following this comes ‘Spät Noch ‘raus’ from the legendary Köln born DJ / producer Mathias Schaffhäuser. The Ware Recordings label boss has delivered a tension building DJ tool, 100% free from any kick drum but full of absolute momentum to keep a party moving fully forward. Heavy use of synths and twisted murky tones compliment this twisted grower. 

Third in line is ‘Train’ from Ukrainian local hero and party promoter, Smailov. With a sound as cold and forceful as a powerful locomotive train, this reverb saturated piece of electronica dives into the darkest pits of a concrete warehouse with an expanded intro before bursting into heavy as brick drum programming and solid steel sonic intensity. A perfect winter beast. 

Rounding out package is the gorgeous ‘Franco´s Off’ by Nasrawi . An experimental and stunning stripped back piece of music captures perfectly the creative power of the artist. With releases on Koze’s Pampa as well as performances at Dubai’s debut Mutek event, it’s clear Nasrawi has a perfect ear for music which balances between sound design and dancefloor appeal. Just wait till the 4/4 kick sneaks in on this one. Absolutely effective, understated music.

It is with great excitement to announce the return of the Nostro Hood System label boss, Galtier (Bristol, UK) to Infinite Machine. Following-up his well received 2016 "Myth Codes" EP. 

Galtier's Commentary about the EP:

The concept for the ‘Terran’ EP is centered around a lone human drifting through space, planet to planet. Who this person might be is irrelevant – it can be anyone, any gender, any race. What is important is that this person is undergoing a treacherous journey deep into the unknown. They are alone on this journey and it is no easy task, but their resilience and determination to carry on is what drives them forward. 
The premise within this is based around the idea of each individuals own suffering, each person who walks this earth faces their own obstacles, which ultimately at its core is beyond their control. Much like the Terran drifting through space, the unknown of space parallels the unknown future of life, and the endless possibilities that perpetually arise throughout it. The EP is presented as a sense of hope – encouragement to all that even though they often drift through their spiritual life alone, they are not alone on this journey. Each Terran faces the blackness of space in their own way, and they too can choose how they perceive this arduous, yet immensely worthwhile experience.

What might seem like a crushing, over encumbering existence, at times, only adds to the worth of life. Life is a challenge – and it should be – as overcoming the challenge and powering on, despite the odds, makes each day and each moment (a keepsake if you will) innumerably more valuable.

There is no real sense of completion within this journey too, as ‘home’ is something that the Terran will not experience again. ‘Home’, or ‘Earth’ in many ways is birth through this allegory, and every moment from this point becomes the struggle of existence. One can never step backwards to another moment in time that has already passed, as the world will not allow you to return to your previous spiritual self. The only true and just way is forward, further into the abyss of the universe.

Electronic / Experimental Music Project

In the very name of the TRANSCRIPT project hides the essence of its original mission. If transcription helps us describe how each word or phrase sounds, then TRANSCRIPT, on the contrary, translates the beauty of the surrounding world - objects, things and natural phenomena into the language of music, the audial. 

It is no coincidence that one of the albums of the electronic duo - "OPTIMA" (2020) - was, first of all, the soundtrack for the fashion show of the PRZHONSKAYA clothing brand at Ukrainian Fashion Week. From soundtracks to shows and performances, TRANSCRIPT moves further - to conceptual audiovisual projects, where music comes to the fore and video deciphers hidden meanings.

Thus, the new release by the project “Natural Course of Events” sounds like the “The Four Seasons” in the digital era. Nature finds its way into sound textures and rhythms. Musically, TRANSCRIPT ranges from "orderly chaos" of industrial, IDM and glitch to sensual harmonies of ambient, coldwave or folk. 

Members of the respected Ukrainian alternative/industrial rock band THE MAUNT - Alex Forst and Alexander Pisarchuk, within the framework of TRANSCRIPT, are actively searching for their own unique sound. But they do not conceal this, but build their search into a coherent concept. After all, they prove to handle different aesthetics and genres at ease.
