Our first podcast episode is a conversation with the wonderful anthropologist Christen Smith, a professor at UT-Austin. 

We discussed the special issue of our journal that she edited, "Sorrow As Artifact: Radical Black Mothering in Times of Terror," and how that amazing issue came about. 

We also asked her about her new book, "Afro-Paradise: Blackness, Violence, and Performance in Brazil," and activist anthropology. We also couldn't resist talking about Beyoncé's "Formation".
