Rumbling beat, mind-bending dub chord and atmospheric safari by one of the absolute veterans of the Icelandic techno scene. Q-Box was originally released in 1999 on the legendary Thule Records and has since then been one of the ultimate go-to dub techno tracks for DJs worldwide. Now, 22 years later, the release has been remastered – and to add a little sprinkle to the cake we have worthy remixes from some of the mightiest of the current Reykjavik techno scene.

The 2x12“ limited release begins with the minimal techno banger Haus Í Krukku – an repetitive fist bumping anthem which works the dance floor as well today as it did back in the days. Followed the quirky percussion-based Áttfalt – a track done in collaboration with his father. The B-side starts with a rumbler Gegnum Skráargat, a groovy minimalistic dub techno delicacy. Steadily paced backroom anthem with chords that‘ll make your knees weak. Closing the side is Spællt, evocative & dubby mind-evolving.

The additional 12“ with the remixes starts with LaFontaine taking on Haus Í Krukku. The Icelandic boy wonder takes no prisoners and spares no effort in making it a essential one. Next is the veteran dub techno titan Octal Industries with his remix of Áttfalt - an effortless and groovy rendition of the track. An absolute belter. Finally the D-side has couple of the remixes from the enigmatic dub techno producer Waage, who has swept the scene recently with his „W“ series releases. He offers his signature sound – a perfect balance of drums and sound.

XOZ has been operating since 2017 and this is the tenth release so far. Also operating under the same regime is the side-label Planet X, where the more harder side of techno is explored. Both of the labels are the brainchild of the Icelandic techno artist Exos.

Ikari is power in all aspects. With a style led by rhythm, he flirts with glitch and with the rawness and roughness that has inspired his sound. His sets and productions are characterized by an unruliness behavior and a mechanical essence.

Alchemist of emotions enjoys generating moods producing strong impacts on the listener as them change. Form by precise and marked times his proposal is firmly focused on the dancefloor and is nourished by tribal and percussive sounds.

His tireless pursuit of high artistic and creative quality sound as well as intense and rocky leads him to focus on the Birmingham and Iberic styles from the first decade of the 2000s.
Warlike essence that hides this sound in communion with groovie slippery sequences is what Ikari magnifies and manages to move to the dancefloor.

He has released a couple of Ep's in Codec Recordings and Drawner Records with the support of artists like Takaaki Itoh, Setaoc Mass, Marron and Perc.

Marc Falcó was born in Barcelona in January 1998. Since very young he fell fascinated by the world of electronic music. In his adolescence explored the harsher aspects of the genre and his musical maturity came from the hand of artists like Reeko, Surgeon or Bas Mooy. 
His personality was polished with the countercultural values of the genre.

In the beggining of 2019, together with Hades and Alberto, he founded Praxis. A collective that aims to transfer a concept of leisure where emotions, sensations and values ​​acquire almost a total prominence. He also is part of the Asphixia Group collective, one of the olders techno collectives in the city.

The first guest of Mef Radio Invites is Shieeldd.

Nicholas, as we know him - Shieeld is a 21-year-old newcomer DJ and producer based in Georgia Tbilisi. It’s been a short time since he’s been on the scene, but he’s really making every moment stand out, with his hypnotic tracks and selections mixed with ambient elements and unique bleepy sounds.

He began his electronic music career inspired by Aphex Twin. In the following years, he started adding ambient elements to his deep/hypnotic techno, which created his current unique sound.

Despite his young age, he performed in some of the best venues in Tbilisi, such as Left Bank and Tes Club. At the same time, he had his first international debut in Germany a few months ago, when a Hanover-based hypnotic techno collective invited him.
