An intriguing sonic match-up marks our final Truesoul release of 2021, as Oscar L and Weska connect for a debut collaboration.  

Both admirers of each other’s work, the pair linked to exchange unfinished sketches they had each been working on and quickly found their juxtaposing styles combined for memorable results. Oscar’s incredible knack for building infectious grooves has seen him become one of Truesoul’s most valuable contributors in recent years, while Weska’s talent for standout melodies and pads has seen the young Canadian emerge as one of the next crop of names starting to appear on Adam Beyer’s labels. His last appearance was 2019’s ‘Polarize’ collaboration with Bart Skils on Drumcode.

Pagano makes his Transmit debut with this 2 track gem. Tribal-tech at its finest is ready to get anyone moving. Side A features 'Maelstrom' a track that's all about the drums over that groove is just a perfect fit for great track. Side B features 'Tabula Rasa' which has those driving drums blended in with those techno sounds that are distinguishable to those any techno lover. A release that gives a little taste to everyone's needs.

We welcome back Italian groove ambassador Pagano to Tronic for a remix EP. His recent 'Panta Rhei' track was supported by many of the big players, so we decided to remaster the original, and recruit Tronic's head honcho Christian Smith and New York City's Agent Orange for remix duties! Christian Smith delivered a driving remix that is very energetic and geared more towards the underground floors. Agent Orange's remix is stomping and implementing more of the original structure while adding his signature groove!

Techno is all too often described as timeless but while most of it eventually evaporates into the ether, there are some riffs, melodies, and breakdowns that remain etched into our collective consciousness forever. Legendary Frankfurt label Harthouse is home to more than its fair share of such moments, but you have to go all the way back to 1992, the opening strains of the Metal Master classic ‘Spectrum’ to locate the source for this special single-sided remix release.

The common denominator and catalyst to all this is of course Sven Väth, co-creator of ‘Spectrum’ and founder of both Harthouse and Cocoon Recordings, while the independent variables in the equation are Bart Skils and Weska, who lend their considerable talent and vision to this sublime makeover.

Coming on like rolling thunder, sparks fly immediately as crackling vocoder licks, silky ride cymbals and soaring arpeggios build an atmosphere taut with anticipation before giving way to that iconic melody - a love letter from Frankfurt to Ibiza, wrought from metal, drenched in distortion yet pulling at the heartstrings - the perfect soundtrack to any chemical sunrise.

It‘s a powerful re-interpretation that pays the warmest respects to the original and, despite the relentless groove, there is still room for sentimentality - an invitation to momentarily pause for thought and reflect on the journey so far as the sumptuous breakdown washes over the dance-floor. But not for long, the simmering bass line soon emerges from the euphoria and the track kicks in again, driving us forward towards a new, uncharted spectrum of possibilities.

In December 2009, Gem Records was born when it released GEM001 ‘Egbert – Dezelfde Weg’. Nine years later, Egbert graces the label with its 60th release.
