Trash Bangs first started in 2019 when roommates Kate Gallagher and Nick Royall began working on music inspired by their shared love of 80s new wave, 2000s pop punk, and contemporary synthpop. During the 2020 pandemic, the two exchanged demos between Nick's bedroom studio in Brooklyn and Kate's family home in New Jersey that eventually became their debut EP, "Teen Romance." Since then, the duo has continued to fuse their disparate styles into a unique sound that blurs the lines between pop, rock, and electronic music.
