La Phaze has been a long-standing fixture of the french scene, at the intersection of jungle, urban sound system beats and punk rock vibes (a combination style that they call 'Pungle'). After 20 years and 700 wild concerts all over the world, the band came back from a long hiatus and released the new album VISIBLE(S) in October 2020. The original duo (Damny writes the lyrics, both Arnaud and Damny work on the songwriting) has been joined in the meantime by the producer Speaker Louis. When the pandemic caused the band to cancel their tour, the 3 members of La Phaze focused their energy on their studio work and connected with some of the best artists from the reggae, jungle and drum & bass scenes. Joining forces with the hard working Spanish junglists of South Yard, the band is proud to deliver this 100% sound system EP.

With the distinctive vocal energy of Blackout JA  adding to Damny's lyrics and the production of Speaker Louis, this new version of their song 'One Way' is a dubwise dancefloor banger with a conscious message. La Phaze also welcomes the french jungle master Veak, who puts his touch on 'Highly Blessed' for a breakbeat-heavy filthy roller. Spanish reggae star Lasai, already present on the album, delivers here a special and extended version of the song 'Liberticide', in a classic 90s dancehall style. Having worked closely with Damny in the past, Barcelona-based dub specialist Chalart58 offers a brand new reggae cut of the tune 'Haute Sécurité'.

The real novelty of the EP is the title track 'Rebel', an original production which bridges the gap between the seminal La Phaze vibe and modern drum & bass. This tune showcases the band's return to a more digital and electronic sound, fully in touch with their history and with a forward-thinking attitude. Expect the trio to provide serious ammunition for your turntables, until they can finally ignite the dancefloors again with their live show! Pungle is Massive!
