Marking the last Crosstown Rebels release of the Summer, Yousef steps into the spotlight with the compelling Vanity featuring entrancing vocals from The Angel. Heavyweight remixes courtesy of Carl Cox, Bontan and Rowee complete the package.

Played for the first time by Damian, Vanity was premiered at Day Zero in January, with videos capturing this moment reaching the three million mark. Originally from Liverpool, Yousef wrote, arranged and produced the track after being inspired by an amicable breakup. " The song is about appreciation of what was once wonderful, it's about not having any regrets, positively exiting a situation with a coy smile, and looking forward to the next chapter of your life ..." Yousef The vocals of long term collaborator The Angel caress the memories of lovers gone in Vanity , whilst the drums and poignant breaks deliver high impact. UK DJ Bontan delivers the first remix, picking up the pace and adding his signature choppy beats. Musical royalty, Carl Cox is up next with an energetic force and increasing intensity levels. Switching it up, Yousef returns with his Black & Acid Dub complete with throbbing drums and stripped back vocals. Italian DJ and producer Rowee concludes the release with his hypnotic and ethereal remix.

Claptone is a unique proposition in modern music. Painted as a mythical character shrouded in mystery, Claptone has become one of the biggest names in electronic music whilst himself remaining in the shadows. He has however constantly sought to deepen his own distinctive world, creating a rich tapestry, which tells the Claptone story.

In his second artist album ‘Fantast’, the Claptone universe is at its deepest and most vivid. He is the master of his domain and in his most artful offering yet, the assured 13 tracks of 'Fantast' come together to create an album full of varied colours and atmospheric textures.

In music Claptone seeks not to create a world of secrecy, but one of great depth and intrigue. An enigma with a tireless desire for creativity and thirst for new music, Claptone has brought together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan as a Policewoman and Matt Simons.

'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

The first single 'In The Night' features the vocals of Ben Duffy, which paired with Claptone’s insistent and upbeat production, makes for an exquisitely executed electronic pop gem. It marks an engaging opening snapshot for what will be a milestone in his already glittering career.

'When would I return if not in the night? What would our love look like, if not with you letting me go? Which song will you be humming when thunder and lightning are coming?'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting.

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.

Claptone - Under The Moon (Catz 'n Dogz Remix)

Kittball Records co-founder Juliet Sikora combines with fellow label favourite Flo Mrzdk this August as the pair deliver ‘The Get Down’, whilst Pete Sabo steps up on remix duties.
Following a debut appearance as part of the label’s ‘Kittball Konspiracy Vol. 3’ back in 2011, Dortmund’s Flo Mrzdk has since established himself as one of the imprint’s core artists, contributing towards numerous compilations and two full EPs to date. Joining him is label co-founder Juliet Sikora, who arrives fresh from recent outings on Green Velvet’s Relief and Cajual imprints and Beatport topping collaborations with Return Of The Jaded amongst many. Here we see the two combine once more following their ‘U Can’ EP in 2012, whilst Austria based producer Pete Sabo (Bunny Tiger Dubs / Spinnin’ Deep) turns in a dynamic and melodic remix on the flip.
Flo Mrzdk & Sikora’s title track ‘The Get Down’ reveals a slick, rolling production that combines bumping bass licks and shuffling hats with intermittent vocal hooks and rich chords throughout, whilst Pete Sabo’s interpretation sees the focus shifted towards driving oscillating synth builds guided by heavy, regimented kicks and the original’s infectious vocals.
