Today's theme was not-as-often used intervals in a specific direction. I  chose the descending major 7th as my interval for melodic inspiration.

My most messed up track so far. So one is super weird and hard to listen to.
I used Cinecamples' Ancient Bones library that has a bunch of atonal crazy instruments like - the Death Whistle, the Trident Shell and the Femur Trumpet.

The challenge of the day:
Something Strange & Wonderful: Write a melody using an instrument you’ve never used before whose name you aren’t even 100% sure how to pronounce. Did you know there’s an instrument called a “Crwth?” Those 11th-century Welsh musicians really knew how to rock. Good look finding a sample library with THAT included.

I have decided to make it a bit more interesting for myself:
* Every day I would need to compose in a different key
* Every day I would need to use a different library and ONLY that library

www.travissullivan.com: Zoho Music and Posi-Tone recording artist Travis Sullivan has earned a worldwide reputation as an alto saxophonist, pianist, composer, and arranger.  Embedded in the New York music scene for the past 20 years, he has been hailed by Jazz Times as being “…a gifted alto saxophonist and improviser who has also developed a strong and commanding voice as a composer.”
In 2004, his breakthrough came in the form of Travis Sullivan’s Bjorkestra, an 18-piece big band performing his arrangements of the renowned music of Icelandic pop goddess Bjork.  The Bjorkestra has acquired international recognition from performances with acclaimed jazz artists such as George Garzone, Dave Douglas, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Donny McCaslin, and performances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Jarasum Jazz Festival, the SF Jazz Festival, and the NYC Winter Jazz Festival, and the Blue Note NYC.  
Sullivan’s current projects include: Altoism: The Masters of Alto Sax  in which he interprets the music of some of the most influential alto saxophonists in jazz; SnapDragon, an avant garde jazz ensemble featuring Sullivan on both alto saxophone and piano with drummer Bob Meyer; and Squonk: A Jazz Tribute to Genesis a jazz quartet spotlighting the music of the progressive rock band Genesis.

Sullivan’s 2011 CD release  “New Directions,”  was his his debut on Posi-Tone Records, and presents eight of his original modern jazz compositions and quartet, as well as Rodgers & Hart’s “Spring is Here,” and his arrangement of the Tears for Fears classic “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” In 1999 Sullivan’s self-release Travis Sullivan’s Project One: As We Speak featured his original music with a quartet that included guitarist Rez Abbasi and drummer Ari Honig.  
Travis has also performed and/or recorded with Phil Woods, Ambrose Akinmusire, George Garzone, Dan Weiss, Clarence Penn, Rachel Z, Avishai Cohen, Anat Cohen, Nir Felder, Donny McCaslin, Becca Stevens, Alan Ferber, Jane Monheit, Clark Terry,  Jason Miles, and Lukas Ligeti. He can be heard performing regularly in the U.S. at venues such as The Blue Note, Iridium, The Jazz Standard, and Joe’s Pub.  He has also appeared internationally at The Jarasum Jazz Festival (South Korea), and Aperitivo in Concerto (Italy), and as conductor for the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra (Germany), the Sicilian Jazz Orchestra (Italy), the Reykjavik Big Band (Iceland), and the Bohuslan Big Band (Sweden).
