Curses launches a 5 part series under Safer At Night: Ombra International. The limited series will focus on releasing up and coming International artists, influencedby 80’s synth music, EBM, Cold Wave, and such.
The first release comes from Mexican - Montessori. One half of the dark and buzzing FLXXX duo, who have had successful releases on labels such as:  Play Pal, WonderStories, Logical Records, and NEIN.

PREMIERE: Psycho Weazel - Ivacello (Roliva Remix) [Rumba Bisnes] (2019)

Mexico’s Duro label are set to release the first EP from local talent Undefined Pattern, backed with remixes from Damon Jee and Jenia Tarsol.

‘El Desespere’ comes after Undefined Pattern’s debut on the Disque Discos 'DISCORROR IX' compilation and is inspired by the stress and paranoia of living in Mexico. It features three intensely atmospheric tracks with remixes by Damon Jee and Jenia Tarsol.

The fantastic title track gets things under way on a rugged bassline and illuminating synths that speak of a busy urban metropolis. It’s a rumbling disco ride that really takes you somewhere. The dark and heavy disco vibes continue on ‘Estrex Humano’, with its crisp hits and urgent bassline. Edgy synth loops bring the tension and add plenty of drama before ‘Intenxa Salida’ offers a sparser and eerier track, with dystopian, searching synths and melodic details off in the distance that suggest human life amongst a late night urban landscape.

Frenchman, MORE associate and 90s veteran Damon Jee flips ‘Estrex Humano’ into a slow burning and steamy disco stomper with libidinous female vocals, courtesy of Ravintsara and broad synth sweeps. Lastly, ‘El Desespere’ as remixed by Blue Shadow Records boss Jenia Tarsol is a chugger with big rock licks and a filthy bassline.

This is a compelling EP from the fast rising Undefined Pattern and another great package from contemporary disco tastemakers Duro.

You may already know this one… We lock-in the first reload of our burgeoning story so far with a return to Darlyn Vlys’s ‘Wuzu’. Previously featured on the second V/A ‘Muy Duro’ EP, it’s loaded with an instantly recognisable desert-bound vocal, a warm undulating bassline and that perfect balance between space and tribal intensity. And now it’s loaded with a new original and remixes, too…

‘Arrival’ is brand new material from the rising Spanish artist. Perfect for big entrances and mix intros, once again Vlys has nailed that balance between the space aged and tribal with its staccato voodoo voices and purring, velvet machine prowess.

Remix-wise Disco Sentimento founder Tyu strips back ‘Wuzu’ for a woozy percussive twist while Modular Project add a whole new layer of bassline space dust to their remix of ‘Arrival’. Both complement Vlys’s originals, his hip-slinking hypnotic signature and the label’s ever-flourishing remit perfectly.

Premiere: Parfum Ko' - Vol Au Dessus D'un Nid De Bobo - J.A.D.E

Ruary has been DJing and producing for more than ten years, but he never released anything before. Most of his tracks were only sent to a few of his friends just to get some feedback, but, in his own words, he feels like he can’t finish anything (even when the tracks sound finished), and that’s the main reason why he hasn’t released anything before… until now. For the sake of the good “garage-made” underground music, our friends from Richmerch decided it was about time for Ruary to be heard by other ears other than his peers’.

Ruary’s debut EP, called “Indexed”, features four gripping originals and showcases the proper production skills of the Mexican hidden talent. The track we chose to premiere, “Disgro”, is an eerie and spooky low-BPM industrial/techno-ish theme. The bouncing bassline, the ghostly pad layer, and the Chemical Brothers’ “Believe”-like synth riff transport you into Ruary’s darker influences. Besides fear, horror, dread, and joy, “Disgro” prompts a huge curiosity to listen to the “unfinished” cuts he must have concealed in his backyard.
