Based in Melbourne/Naarm, Acopia’s music is a careful control of tension and release, sparseness and warmth, momentum, and space. Across ten tracks, the band’s three members move across post-punk lamentation, shoegazing DnB, smoldering trip hop and subdued electronic pop, as they carve out their own hazy world of romanticism and restraint.

Leaning deep into the heavier palette of his celebrated sound, Daniel Avery transforms the skeletal intimacy of ‘Be Enough’ into skittering, hardcore-indebted, warehouse material. Already established as a breathless highlight of his recent DJ sets, lead singer Kate Durman’s gossamer vocal is layered into a feverish dream state, holding strong beneath an onslaught of kicks and atop powerful bass weight.

JD Twitch conjures his extensive knowledge of brooding outsider music throughout a rich, lucid dub of ‘Holding On’. Coaxing out the band’s gothic undertones, Twitch pulls away a billowing sheet to reveal layers of guitar feedback that recall the resplendent gloom of This Mortal Coil or Sunn O))).

NYC's very own, young gun @no_4mat, is coming over to Berlin for the very 1st time playing our 3rd edition of PAPER at Wilde Renate tomorrow (12.04.19). For us, the Dissolute - @dissolutenet - player put together a beautiful selection showcasing his luv for playful productions and "reflecting the atmosphere I like to release when I am in control". 
He included a lot of unreleased material of his own and sum friends. I.e. "This Time" by code.pump: "a mood setter - gets the crowd in a nice zone before I dive in." Or Lobec's “I’m Feelin It”: "Lobec is definitely one of my favorite producers at the moment - I just simply love his productions. Really stoked he was nice enough to send me a nice mp3 care package."
And what should we expect from his set at PAPER? "A cybercity boy flying across the vast network to another night city releasing his favorite sounds - giving out his form of rave. I can’t wait to feel your energy!" 💒

Underground Resistance is probably the most important Detroit record label since Motown: their sound and attitude emerged in the early '90s as the most uncompromising one from the Motorcity, it was pivotal in shaping US and European Techno, started the resurgence of 90's Electro, but most of all indelebly marked the consciousness of thousands of people around the world who share their messages of resistance and hope.
And last but not least, they did so many amazing records!

So, 30 years has passed since UR-001 came out in 1990.
Since UR and 'Mad' Mike Banks were so influential for me, not just sonically but mostly on the attitude side of things, I decided to go thru all my 12"s and make a retrospective tribute mix to celebrate this anniversary.

At first I wanted to pick 30 tracks only and keep it compact but so many great ones were left out.. so I just started and at the end I used 60+ tracks! Almost all the classics are there, plus a fair share of lesser known tunes which really shine as well in my opinion. All from the UR catalogue only. No Z-tracks unfortunately :)

I really hope to have done justice to their sound, and I hope as well that the listeners will enjoy the ride, have the chance to discover some amazing music, and maybe feel the energy and pride and love that Mike Banks and the UR crew put into the music and pressed into the grooves.
