This mix was both a happy surprise and a devastating one to find. DJ Tune was the Co-Founder of HouseBlends and Talkin' Soul and a very popular DJ in San Francisco. He retired in 2008 and officially stopped all together in 2010 to pursue new passions. I dragged Him out sometimes to play my radio show and He only needed a couple days to already be better spinning vinyl then people with controllers. He embodied the true passion of house music and it reflected in the music He played and enjoyed. Whenever He played out everyone was enthralled by His skills and enthusiasm. It's true dancers make good DJ's as He was one of the best in the scene in our early days. He at one point and to this day made more mixtapes then anyone in the world that I can think of. I have traveled it and have seen no evidence to the contrary. I meet people all the time that randomly have one of His tapes from the past. He named them and dated them. This mix is a wonderful best of journey through His well worn and well played vinyl collection. He hadn't made a mix in almost 10yrs!!! and it's all vinyl.Think about that when you listen to it. It took me the last 4 yrs to wear Him down and convince Him to play out with me and He said as long as it's for fun bro and if not then I'd rather not. I didn't know He recorded this. I cried tears of joy and pain. RIP my soul brother you were my soulmate my BFF my Kuya and my inspiration.

Anthony Garcia established himself in the Underground House Scene in the early 2000s after playing intensely for a few years in his hometown, El Paso, Texas, several cities in Mexico, and throughout New Mexico. Looking to expand his reach, he moved to San Antonio where he quickly became a fixture in the local & Austin house music scene.

In 2006 Anthony formed the Sun City Hustlers with his closest El Paso friend John Pridgen. From 2006-2012 Anthony & John dj’ed & released several original tracks and remixes on international labels such as: Tango, Blockhead, Kolour, Phobic, Flapjack, Greenhouse and several more.

After taking a brief hiatus, Anthony decided to go back to focusing on what he enjoyed the most, Dj’ing.  Influenced by his hometown’s culture, proximity to Mexico, and frequent family visits to the West Coast, Anthony’s sound is eclectic and energetic. His style ranges from deep disco house to dirty Jackin’ beats.

Anthony has played alongside notable names such as: Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Miguel Migs, DJ Heather, Natural Rhythm, Joey Youngman, Brett Johnson, Kaskade, Julius Papp, DJ Dan, and Sunshine Jones- just to name a few.

In late 2019 Anthony co-founded Primo House with his good friends Trey Garcia & Dorian Perez. They are a collective of house DJ’s who have been throwing parties in downtown San Antonio for the past year and have no intentions of slowing down, once we are able to get back to our daily scheduled programs.

Playfully bringing the deep grooves to the underground and the pumping house to the big rooms, Glasgow’s Austin Ato has seen his profile rise over the past two years. Initially releasing on the taste-maker Phonica's white-label imprint, showcasing a blend of live keys and drums with exquisite sampling, he then created a blazing 12” of loopy, disco and drum machine house for Man Power’s Me Me Me label. This immediately put him on our radar, and we've supported ever since.
His music comes in many forms, be it afrohouse on Defected with "Oh Mama" or making some Detroit and Chicago influenced tunes for Luke Solomon's Classic Music Company with 'Drip' and 'Heat' from the EP named after the latter. His DJ sets have led him to play many of the best parties in the UK from Percolate with Daphne and Floating Points, to Horsemeat Disco and Karizma.
Having evolved from the enigmatic Drums of Death, our man Ato has a diverse ear, and a knowledge of what makes a groove. He serves up an hour of eclectic ear food for us in the mix series, moving through multiple genres, but always with a rhythm which urges you to move.

Playing other peoples music for other peoples enjoyment since 1993!

Darius is a self proclaimed "House Addict". He fell in love with the house sound as a teenager living in Montreal back in the early '90s when he would stay up late on Friday nights and record a dance mix show on Montreal radio. He was hooked from then on. He then proceeded to start mixing with one tape deck and a CD player and never looked back.

When he moved to Vancouver in the late '90's, he started buying records almost daily and spent most of his free time at his favourite record stores at the time, Bassix and Mekanix records. Over the next few years, Darius held various residencies and ran 2 club nights in Vancouver, playing alongside such talent as Lawnchair Generals and Johnny Fiasco, as well as playing at numerous after hours and raves. After getting tired of both the late nights and politics in the scene, he decided it was time to hang up the headphones in the early 2000s, but the love of house music still burned inside of him as the years passed.

In 2013 he decided he wanted to get back into DJ'ing and purchased a basic Pioneer controller and started to collect digital tracks again. Over the past few years Darius has been busy making a name for himself in the underground scene with numerous guest mix appearances around the world on such labels as House Salad, Reason2Funk, Uglyhouse, Little Routine, Selecta Music, Leven Underground and House Jet Radio just to name a few. He also started the very popular "SPEED BUMPS" mix series which showcases his love for hip hop and jazz as he shows his versatility as a DJ by blending mixes of nu jazz, hip hop instrumentals and acid jazz flavours reminiscent of Mark Farina's legendary series, Mushroom Jazz.

He also launched the hugely successful "Soul Room Sessions" podcast showcasing the soulful and jazzy side of house music and downtempo beats with guest mixes from some of the biggest names in the game and the series is still going strong!

In 2017 Darius got his first taste of out of town gigging playing live shows all over the West Coast from his hometown in Vancouver, to San Francisco and Oakland. Stay tuned for much more from him in the near future!
