“This DJ Mix includes my new release ‘Human Life’ out now on Yoshitoshi Records. It features vocals by rising talent Jinadu who recently won a Grammy. I actually chose to play the Eran Hersh remix of my original track, here as the opening tune for the DJ set. The session is composed of a blend of deep house, indie dance, melodic techno, and more. I don’t like to be stuck in one genre. Most of those tunes I play regularly in my sets here in Paris, there are also a couple of bootlegs like the one I close my mix with, I’ll let you play it to find out what it is, it’s a very effective tune for the closing, quite emotional :)”

Wolf Story, based in Paris, is a house and
techno artist who has been making waves in
the underground music scene for over 20
years.

Known for his unique blend of house, techno
and Indie Dance, Wolf Story draws inspiration
from the likes of Popof and Laurent Garnier.
He lived in Miami for 10 years, where he held
a weekly residency in Fort Lauderdale, before
relocating to Paris.

It all started in the 90s when Wolf Story
(Rico) began DJing vinyls with Popof, an
experience that would shape his musical
direction. He went on to become a resident
DJ at the legendary Rex Club in Paris, honing
his craft and building a dedicated fanbase
In addition to his success as a solo artist,
Wolf Story is also the driving force behind
the new collective Au Fil Du Son, he recently
organized an event during Techno Parade in
Paris which drew over 1000 attendees.

Our buddy Emric aka Wolf Stroy did a smash debut on HMWL in 2021 with the afro house cut Berilla feat Mabiisi. It's still his top one Spotify track two years later. We caught up with Wolf Story in Tokyo where he played the iconic Oath venue.

Oath is a small club in Shibuya -Tokyo's most famous neihbourhood, an intimate club. The kind of club where people actually talk to each other. It was the first club I visited in Japan 2 years ago. It features dozens of chandeliers, which gives a really unique feel inside the venue. Akira, manager at Oath confirmed my last gig of my Asian tour in dec 2023. I enjoyed playing a two-hour set that night, great way to conclude a busy schedule in Korea & Japan. If you want to try the ultimate experience in Shibuya, you have to taste Habushu, a liquior from Okinawa with a snake in it...this will wake up a dead man ! Supposingly it is also used as medecine...

Following on from his second release titled 'This Ain't No Rave' on I'm A House Gangster  2 weeks ago, Miami badboy Jesse Perez returns to the Gangstercast for episode 60.

This is Jesse's 2nd mix for the gangstercast series. Sneak is the only one who has ever done 2 mixes, but Jesse is one of our few absolute favourites who we wanted to hear more music from. 
Following his 2nd release on the IAHG label with 'This ain't no rave' earlier this month, we felt the timing was right to bring him back for another episode. 

We asked Jesse; "What does the House Gangster movement mean to you?"

"Its the last of the Mohicans. A movement of those who still do things because their passionate about it. Nothing short of that," says Jesse.

Asking Jesse to describe the House Gangster sound, he replies with; "It's hard to describe it in one way. I think there are many different interpretations of it. Mine is "if it don't make that ass shake,it aint gangster".

House music to Jesse simply means; "Independence in every way possible. "

TRAXSOURCE LIVE! Sessions #089 - Wolf Story

Almost exactly a year ago myself and fellow Geordie Patrick Topping took over the controls at The Cosmic Ballroom in Newcastle.
We’ve known each other for a long time (certainly for a lot longer than most people outside of Newcastle will have known of either us).
When I first met Patrick, he was literally just about to throw his first ever party in Newcastle and I  was co-running a small but well respected underground event in town, as well as making my first forays in to releasing music (both as 1/3 of Last Waltz).
Since then our trajectories, while being wildly different, have definitely defied both our expectations.
Suffice to say, we both come from the same background (give or take 10 years of evolution) and we’d been desperate to play back to back for years before we finally made this happen.
To set the scene, advance tickets for this sold out within around 45 minutes, and the club was at capacity within 15 minutes of opening (so, at 10.15).

Gangstercast 11 comes from one of the closest House Gangster's we've had since the movement started - Hector Moralez.  Rising from Oakland, California, Hector Moralez has paid his dues by working tirelessly from the bottom up. Now in demand at clubs and events throughout the world, he is renowned for his intelligent and soul awakening house music.  His music has been found on many stellar labels including Robsoul, Music For Freaks, Nightshift, Detour, Vista, Brique Rouge, Magnetic, Doubledown and Lowdown Music.  His collaboration with Phil Weeks as Fries & Bridges caused a big stir in underground house circles and his latest collaboration with Chris Carrier as Lotus Seven was released earlier this year on hyped French imprint Apollonia. Hector also manages his own distinguished underground labels, Minority Music and The Factory.

Gangstercast 11 is a live recording of Hector in Northern Ireland: "I just played what I thought would keep the people on the floor non stop. The people were well up for it! They were ready to have a belter of a night. I played a couple of my own productions, tested some new tracks out and played one of the tracks off of the "Lotus Seven" album with Chris Carrier as well. It was a really great night, and I'm happy to be able to share it to everyone now through this podcast. I think people should listen to this mix, burn it for a house party with your best friends, at your mom's house, whatever, maybe even an after party, and just DANCE. Don't worry about what anyone else is doing. Just get down, and move, people!!"

A bonafide House Gangster from the start, Hector is well placed to give his take on how the movement has developed: It started out small and keeps on growing and growing!
