Pecan Pie

When my mother lost her battle with cancer last year I wanted to do something unique as a tribute for her, so I wrote this song to perform at her memorial service. “The Bird Of Paradise”. The title was inspired by one of her many wonderful paintings. My bandmates Bakko (Drums) and Shores (Bass) performed at the memorial service as well as on this track and I can’t thank them enough for helping me through the most emotional performance of my life.

I tried to keep the feel of this recording to be as close to the one and only live performance, but I did add something to this version of the song that makes it very special and personal, and that is the sound of my mother’s voice which I was able to salvage from a voicemail she had left for me on my birthday. One thing that I learned from my mother that will always stick with me is that you can turn almost anything into a piece of artwork. I love you mom. Thank you for always encouraging me to create music and art.
