Following on from his debut album ‘Cerulean’ in late 2022, Jeigo returns with ‘Hatchet’s Cave’, a 4-track EP released on Tread Records.
 
Having started 2023 with a Feel My Bicep mix, followed by a collaboration with Elkka on her DJ-Kicks, Jeigo continues his strong year with three original productions, each incorporating his unique and eclectic style, including emotive vocal samples and genre-melding, club-ready production. The release is rounded of with a remix of the title track by Anunaku - DJ, producer, and Nervous Horizons label boss.

As with their first two releases, Tread’s artwork features contour maps of locations chosen by the artists, that represent a place close to their hearts, and have been part of their musical journey over the years.

Taking the reins for Tread's debut release is the unique Guava, whose previous releases on labels such as R&S and Holding Hands have made him one of the big names to watch in the left-field electronic world. Collaborating on the release are two of London’s finest session guitarists, Alex Blake and Leo Abrahams. Their impressive CVs include work with artists such as Jon Hopkins and Skepta, respectively.

Things open up with ‘In Cloud’, a blissed-out slab of broken techno, spaced out with guitar riffs played by Blake. Both ‘Libelle’ and ‘Equinox Meaning’ continue on this theme with a cut of bass weight, with more silky guitar performed by Abrahams on the latter. Dublin-based Sputnik One is on remix duties, turning ‘Libelle’ into a beefed-up club weapon fit for any sound system.

Acidfinky is a German/Algerian producer and DJ based In Berlin. She is a founding member of BLVSH, a DJ Collective created to support and promote female, trans and non-binary talent in the club scene, as well as a resident on THF Radio, and the owner of Twisting Knobs Records.

Having coined the term “crispy sounds” to describe the music she plays and produces, with an emphasis on heavy baselines and sharp drums, this track certainly exemplifies her distinct sound. The ‘Machine’ in question is a deadly, femme-presenting robot, brought to life by the artist’s warped, mechanical vocals.

The second track from our forthcoming VA comes from Lisene - co-founder of On Rotation, and half of Space Cadets.

‘Loose Connection’ is another characteristically cosmic number from the Leeds-based artist, made exclusively for the club, with elements of breaks/broken techno accompanying an unmistakably pulsing bass line.

Along with ‘Machine’ by Acidfinky, ‘Loose Connection’ is now available to download on our Bandcamp, with the full vinyl release expected in early 2023.

Track number three from our upcoming 4-track VA is ‘Sonar Searching’ by Manchester-based producer and DJ, Reynes.  

This high-energy, UKG-inspired groover was born out of the depths of lockdown in 2020, at a time when many of us were yearning for the dance floor.

You can catch Reynes’ mix series, Park Watch, on Melodic Distraction Radio, where he showcases music from emerging DJs and producers from the UK and further afield.
