Hayden Kolb’s (@hkolb) mystical songcraft reaches its glimmering apotheosis on ‘lost in my room’, a collection of four wide-eyed songs animated by a pure-hearted, intimate kind of magic. These are songs made to soundtrack dreams had during mossbed naps under toadstool parasols, micro-anthems for peaceful bug civilisations flourishing in enchanted terrariums.

This release sparkles and shines with an otherworldly glow: from the tumbling rush of opener ‘in my room’ to the post-Elysian woodland cúmbia of ‘tracing hands’; the teeming baile of ‘mirror me’ to the sunlight-dappled rippling of ‘puddle’. It’s the kind of skygazing, inquisitive music that could only spring forth from an imagination-rich mind at ease in a safe haven — ‘in my room’ in other words.
