This is a special composition I've kept mostly to myself since I dreamed it up a few decades ago. While the bloom was still on it, I shared it with a handful of people. One of them said it reminded him of the great 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐚, who has done a lot of wonderfully energetic and rousing music over the years, including the 𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐘 𝐈𝐕 and 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐒 - 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐄 scores. I take that as a high compliment.

According to my notes, I composed this quickly, on the same day I recorded it. I'm not sure that's true. It sounds like it would have sat with me for a while, though not for long. In any event, it was intended for a story I wrote, as a theme to underscore the personal growth of the main character, who took, through a cathartic experience, a few steps from a downcast dayworker who lost the people he loved toward being someone who might be able to make room for a few hopes and dreams after all.

As 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡 wrote in his eminently readable novel 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘺 𝘏𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘦𝘧𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘡𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢: "We all deserve respite from evil."

And we all deserve second chances.

After years of internal bickering on whether or not I should make a mix like this, I've finally decided to give it a go now that I'm not addicted to toxic positivity any more lmaoooo

This mix IS NOT meant to be "sad" or "depressing" per se, but I wanted to do something with a genuinely more mellow sound and something that can be a bit of a coping track, something to listen to when you just wanna ride out the big sad and decompress slowly, but smoothly. Not to mention there's a fair amount of tunes here I've yet to use, and some very underrated bangers. I'm personally very happy with how this turned out, and I hope this helps you guys relax in both good times and bad, or otherwise. 
Hope you all are doing well, but if not, know that things can absolutely get better, no matter what the monsters in our heads tell us, and no matter how convincing they may seem. You can always head upward. <3
