We're back in 2022 with another episode of our NIMH Podcast.

Italian born dj/producer, FLAZE grew up in the South of Italy where he was exposed to a variety of underground beats from an early age.
The electronic sound - specifically techno - were his beats of choice from the early ‘90s; paving the way for his future career and artistic growth.
His live début at the decks came in 1995; he started out DJ'ing at parties and subsequently he joined the Studio One Radio team participating in their popular house night.

In 2013 he joined forces with his old hometown friend Nanni, creating Ruff Stuff and the connected label Ruff Stuff Music Ltd, with the intent of spinning a more raw and groovy sound.

As Ruff Stuff he has released tunes on different labels, such as Shabby Doll Records, Silence in Metropolis, Rough Recordings, Rarehouse Records, King Street Sounds, RM Records UK, Cahoots Records, Quality Vibe Records, and more, gaining support from Marco Carola, Laurent Garnier, T. Williams, B. Traits, Marco Faraone, Javi Bora, Roger Sanchez, Ben Sims, Black Loops, Cinthie and more…

Flaze is now pursuing a solo career. In 2021 he released "Brigade EP" under Entrepôt Records, which marks his debut effort as a solo artist.

The protagonists of the Hot City Orchestra a.k.a. Einzelkind & Simon Birkenfeld don't need much of an introduction. Since 1998, the duo has been well known for widely acclaimed productions such as The Observatory for Infuse lately. 

THE NINE combines skillful composition with intricate vocals. A true headscrew so versatile that it can be integrated into the set at any part. Minimalistic trippy techno, right to the point.

For TR030 we say welcome to another young argentinian talent: we’re speaking about Lea Rognoni.
He delivered three tracks where you can listen all his pure music class. 
Influences from chicago house, 90’s chords and pads that make his style unique and elegant.
The remix was entrusted to Moises, owner of Downhill records.
The Tenerife’s producer made a groovy version, perfect for the dancefloor, that completes this EP in the best way.

Peach - a ubiquitous variety of schnapps as well as one of our favourite DJ's of the year, steps into the FH control room for an hour(ish) of dancefloor mastery. With no productions (yet 👀) to speak of, Peach has forged a name through her DJing prowess via her Radar Radio show "Snacktime" and while more recently with appearances on the bill alongside the likes of DJ Fett Burger, Hidden Spheres and Jackmaster in December.

Her bow astrung with plenty of strings, the London based Canadian has it in her locker to deliver in a number of ways; whether it be stonking, ripping-rawness or silky-smooth pearliness - her mixes provide an ever encyclopedic voyage into dance music. Not wavering from this sentiment, her mix for FH lies on the more chilled side of her repertoire - awash with soft sonic waves licking the shore of the floor.

For its second release of 2018, the Parisian crew Discomatin picked a real classic of the french boogie era, Palace Hôtel by Preface. If Preface recorded a total of four EPs, it’s this first release from 1986 that is the real deal. Expect shiny synthesisers, percussive drum sounds, catchy and irresistible bass riffs and vocals! 

Fortunately, it’s brought here with all 3 versions: the extended « Version Longue » with its great electronic introduction, the shorter « Version 45 Tours » if you’re in a hurry and, last but not least, the instrumental version for those too shy to play the vocals - we certainly are not. Behind Preface, you’ll find three great musicians still at their careers debut at that time, Manu Katche, Jean-Yves d’Angelo and Kamil Rustam. Now accomplished musicians, this project was for them an excursion into more mainstream territories through jazz-funk and boogie influences. 

It had quite a success back in the day. Behind this project, you’ll find Philippe Abitbol, the executive producer who was already behind Chagrin d’Amour - Chacun Fait (C’Qui Lui Plait) or french pop singer Patrick Bruel’s debut (« Marre De Cette Nana Là »). Thanks to Discomatin, it’s now available to the real connoisseurs with an exclusive insert which contains lyrics and chord progressions, again with the fantastic illustrations of french artist Camille de Cussac.
