The Maneuver That Saved the Stars:
In the year 3333, not far from the nebulae-drenched edges of the Woodyverse, XNX—no longer the captain but a cosmic war-god forged from fractured time—patrolled space aboard the Astro Drifter, now his personal flagship of annihilation and rhythm. Somewhere between the Orbiting Cliffs of Echo-9 and the rave-moons of Bassiar, a tremor surged across the quantum threads of space-time: a shadow fleet powered by stolen tech from the forgotten gods of WW2 had breached the Woodyverse.

The enemy's leader, an ancient cyber specteral commander named Helix Krall, aimed to mute the symphony of reality with his Silence Engine. If activated, the cosmos would fall into unbreakable stillness—no sound, no light, no groove.

XNX had one chance. The Silence Engine was protected by Krall’s orbiting defense grid, laced with gravity mines and phasing plasma turrets. No pilot—human or cosmic—could breach it.

It takes a certain kind of artist to make a successful album. It's a different prospect from a series of two- or four-track releases. In D&B, it takes a producer whose got a deep musical understanding and a many facets to their style so they can reconfigure to constantly hold our attention. It takes a producer who's got a story to tell and a journey through which to guide their listeners. Anyone who's been keeping up with L Plus's work over the last few years will recognise that he's one artist who fits that description precisely.

So, here's the first taste of his forthcoming debut album, “Hideout”.

“Timelapse” takes us straight into IMAX mode. The wide-open panorama conjured up by the atmospherics and the expanding percussive hits at the beginning of the track set the scene. The build keeps things crisp and clear, with L Plus showing how to create anticipation out of just a few expertly-programmed elements. And then the rowdy stomping drop, featuring immense grinding sweeps of bass, delivers on that build perfectly. And, of course, things don't stop there. You're going to want to let this one run right to the end, to take in the full majesty of the visceral deconstruction of the tune in the extended outro.

Then, we enter a twisted world of B-movie sci-fi with “Creature Must Die”. Dissonant pads and reverberant drums back up the eponymous dialogue sample in the intro, building to a stripped-back robot funk bass drop. This is far from being everything that L Plus has to offer in this track, though. The deftly executed builds and riffs, deploying discord to powerfully tension-increasing effect, bind the track together creating a wave of movement which belies the deceptively simple beat and bassline pattern. This is a stepper which is sure to find a home in the arsenal of many discerning selectors.

Ever since L Plus landed on Technique Recordings he's been consistently impressive. Connoisseurs will have detected the subtle musical brain at work even in his most rhythm-driven floor-fillers. And, those same connoisseurs will already be getting hyped for “Hideout”. As this first salvo demonstrates, it's going to be something monumental.

Although the Juno identity has only been around since late 2016, the Spanish producer has long been influential in the world of bass music through previous aliases Aphex and Pheex, receiving support from the likes of Krewella, Far Too Loud, Evol Intent, DJ Bl3nd, and more, as well as several award nominations from DJ Mag, International Breaks Awards, and Breakspoll.

With the massive ‘Raptor’ on last year’s ‘Summer Slammers’ compilation on Viper Recordings, followed hot on the heels with ‘Red Blocks’ (which received massive support from Insomniac) on 2018’s annual, Juno has paved the way for future success with the label, evident in ‘Akira’ and ‘Truth In The Skies’.

‘Truth In The Skies’ features the lyrical genius of Dutch native, Innate MC, known for his work with A.M.C.’s Titan Records. Another dark and gritty tune, great attention is given to the build-up of every drop, creating a sense of suspense from start to finish matched only by the tune’s incredible adrenaline.

‘Akira’ is a tech-inspired, bass heavy thumper of a track that is sure to please fans of the darker side of the genre. Deep, thudding bass backs a gritty, neuro-infused melody that constantly evolves as the track progresses, giving the track an almost haunting edge.
