We tend to make a deal of privacy.

Especially our digital privacy.

We hate the idea of a company tracking our activity online and then showing us ads that are relevant to that activity.

But here's the thing...you're still going to see ads!

Any time you're using an app for free, like Facebook or any number of social apps, chances are you'll be seeing ads.

So, if you're going to be seeing ads anyway, isn't it better that those ads are at least vaguely of interest to you?

Surely that's better than seeing ads about stuff that is of absolutely zero interest to you?

In a world where there is so much focus on political correctness and being aware of everyone's sensitivities, sometimes we can lose sight of the need for a critical review.

If you are not just a little embarrassed about some of the work you have put out there...

If you are not just a little ashamed of the way you handled some of your personal interactions...

then maybe you're just not being critical enough.

Don't beat yourself up too much.

Don't over-judge yourself.

But don't give yourself a free pass either.

Those who don't really spend much time in the Crypto / Web3 / NFT space, often take the view that it's all just one big scam.

It's a dangerous place. Full of scammers.

And with NFTs appearing to go on a bit of a bull run right now, we are again seeing a number of big scams being run on the community.

But let's get real for a second.

NFT projects themselves aren't bad. The people using them to run scams are bad.

Sure, it's often easier to run a big scam in this space, for various reasons.

Ultimately, however, always remember...

Of course, it's probably an attitude that won't help you much if you're trying to climb the corporate ladder.

But if you can get to a place where you're genuinely satisfied with being a bit better than you were yesterday, last week, last year, then you're going to be happy.

And after all, isn't that what it's really all about?

This whole show started with the idea to publish one piece of content every day...for one year. That's it.

And here we are now...1,500 consecutive days later.

Why? 

Well, the answer is the same as it was for why I started the show in the first place...no reason.

I just feel like it's run its course. That's all.

Two reasons...

1. I wanted to end on a real show, consistent with the theme of the show. Which has always been about a daily thought, idea, insight. I didn't want to just finish on an anniversary type show.

2. When people ask me in the future, 'How many episodes of that show did you do?', I can now honestly answer them...

'OVER 1,500 episodes!'

So often we talk ourselves out of starting something because we worry that it won't be any good, or that nobody will like it, or that you won't be able to keep it up.

It doesn't matter. Just Start.

If it sucks, make it better. If that's too hard, then stop. 

It's ok to stop too.

Whether you stick with it for a day, a week, or OVER 1,500 episodes...you will learn from it.

You will learn about the process. And you will learn about yourself.

The one thing we are not getting any more of is time.

And one of the most toxic emotions you can have is regret.

You don't want to wake up one day and realise that you've run out of time and you regret not trying.

So...Just Start.

The forests of western Thailand are the meeting place of some of the world’s great bioregions, and home to a great diversity of unique flora and wildlife.

On the summit of one of these ranges, a forest trail threads its way into dense, tropical forest. In the predawn, a Collared Owlet is heard calling distantly against the background chiming of nocturnal crickets. In the darkness, giant beetles take flight, and their wingnoise is heard as they purr past nearby.

Soon, the sharp calls of a Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo herald the dawn chorus, as bulbuls, babblers, warblers and fruit pigeons begin waking. A red-cheeked squirrel scrambles up a tree trunk, giving incisive, spitting calls. With sunrise, light shafts through the humid air, and the songs of barbets, niltivas, pittas, scimitar babblers, laughing thrushes, pheasants, flycatchers, woodpeckers, sunbirds and mesias continue into the morning.

This recording will transport you to one of the most ecologically rich areas of the world. Imagine yourself listening among cool fernery, under a dense forest canopy, experiencing a morning alive with exotic birdsong.

These recordings were made by members of the Australian Wildlife Sound Recording Group during a weekend workshop in regional Victoria.

Each recording documents the same 2 minute sequence during the dawn chorus, with recorders/microphones in proximity to each other. Recording rigs range from simple and inexpensive to hi-end equipment, and this edit allows them to be compared, with a brief silence between each recorder.
