In RUSH HOUR ON THE SUBWAY an attempt is made to capture the sheer bedlam of the rush of people getting to work in the centre and making their way home to the suburbs.

We have a calm sixth piece in this lyric book based around a SUNSET OVER STATEN ISLAND, viewed from either Brooklyn or Manhattan.

For the fifth piece we tour one of the more affluent areas of the city with WALKING DOWN ASTORIA BOULEVARD.  The sheer grace within the ambience of this place is set to music.

For the fourth piece of my lyric book we travel north to the furthest point I visit in this suite - as for this one I am UP IN HARLEM.  An area packed with culture it is also quite sophisticated and upbeat and it is these aspects that I try to capture in this particular piece.

For this piece we come out of the centre of town up to a tranquil area for a somewhat melancholic reflection of New York with this LEXINGTON AVENUE LAMENT.

From Brooklyn Manhattan is viewable across the Brooklyn Bridge and in the morning it can often be sitting there under a huge cloud of mist making the place look to be mysterious.  In MIST OVER MANHATTAN it is important to try to get that mysterious element into the music as this somewhat impressionistic picture is painted.

For the opening of my Third lyric book we start in the morning at a breakfast bar in Brooklyn where we stop off for a New York breakfast in this BREAKFAST IN BROOKLYN.  Every few seconds in this cafe you can hear the noises in the kitchen as the chef shouts "Plate Up" telling the waitresses to grab the newly prepared plate of food and take it to the eagerly awaiting customers.

I am a composer originally from London now living in the Westcountry of the United Kingdom.  My influences are Eric Coates, Ronald Binge, Vivian Ellis and many other popular and light classical composers.  For me melody always comes first and I like to write music that many enjoy to listen to.
