TREVE Series 24 introducing Diliman (@diliman_abstrakt)'s "Waves of Mind"

DJ is its purest form from Nancy, France, inveterate digger for over 20 years, Vinyl addict, his deep style combines raw house, techno, break and electro. Diliman is one of the talented Dj residents of KALT Club (@clubkalt) and play with the great artists like Hector Oaks, Octave One, Avalon Emerson or Ettap Kyle to name a few. 
Specially for TRÊVE, Diliman plunged into his collection of more than 5000 vinyls records to choose his best ambient records to cook something for your sunday rendez-vous.

Medulla Oblongata est un Dj discret qui s'épanouit dans son biotope musical entre ambient et techno mentale et hypnotique. Ses sets techno sont une invitation à un voyage immersif où les danseurs peuvent s'oublier. Il a récemment évolué avec l'équipe du Château Perché Festival et leurs projets parallèles et au KALT Club (Strasbourg, Fr) où il peut s'exprimer librement et sans concession.
Sa passion de deux décennies pour la musique ambient s'exprime dans son autre facette musicale avec des mix hybrides bricolés à partir d'échantillons de bandes, de boucles de drone machines et de synthés. Avec d'autres gens bizarres, il a cofondé le collectif TRÊVE rassemblant des artistes de différents horizons autour des arts visuels et de l'ambient pour proposer des événements oniriques et contemplatifs. Il est également le curateur de la Soundcloud Channel de TRÊVE qui a réuni de nombreux artistes de renoms (Aes Dana, Mary Yuzovsakaya, Aho Ssan, résidents de MNMT, etc.) aux côtés de talents émergents.

MYT PODCAST #35 - MEDULLA OBLONGATA

Ce mix a pour fil rouge des sonorités ambient mais il oscille dans les émotions entre lumière, douceur, force, complexité et parfois obscurité. Il fait le pari d'arriver à faire dialoguer des morceaux très drones avec d'autres morceaux mélodiques et enfin déstructurés, avec des aller-retours dans ces choix.

Recently, efforts are being made to achieve harmony between techno and drum & bass rhythms. However, a small number of people have been attempting this for quite some time. His mix is ​​like a sharp and sophisticated blade that focuses years of past attempts into one delicate spot. Deadly and beautiful.

Medulla Oblongata is a discreet yet emerging Dj who blossoms in his musical biotope between ambient and a mental and hypnotic techno. His techno sets are an invitation to an immersive journey where dancers can forget themselves. We could see him working lately with the Château Perché Festival (as a DA/Stage manager or Dj) and their secret and uncompromising side projects and famous venues of the east of France such as KALT (Strasbourg, Fr) or Ostra Club (Nancy, Fr) where he can express himself without boundaries.

With other weirdos he also co-founded the collective TRÊVE gathering artists from different horizons around ambient and visual arts in order to propose dreamlike and contemplative events. His ambient sets become hybridized with tape loops, droning machines, cassettes and modular synth.

Artscope Radio #49 : Medulla Oblongata

Our podcast series continues. Today I want to share with you another immersive journey, all tracks are written and produced by this month’s guest: Medulla Oblongata.

Based in Nancy, Florent is a distinct DJ who thrives in his musical habitat, navigating between ambient sounds and the mesmerizing beats of techno. His performances are invitations to mesmerizing experiences, enticing dancers to lose themselves in the music. 

‘’ This is a live performance created for the 'Open Source' event organized by the @trevemusicofficial and GRAVE collectives in Nancy, France. It was composed during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The ethnic cleansing happening with the complicity of Western governments, including my own, deeply distresses me. As an artist, I find it impossible to promote my music without addressing this situation. Several tracks in the live performance were specifically composed for this occasion. The live recording will be available on my Bandcamp as a 'name-your-price' release, with 100% of the proceeds donated to UNRWA.’’

‘’ In the live performance, you can hear that the more the cassette is played, the more the tape becomes damaged, reminiscent of the poignant 'Disintegration Loops' by William Basinski. I view this unfortunate occurrence as a poignant metaphor for my mood during these tragic times."

Recently, Medulla Oblongata has brought together the talents of around twenty established artists from the ambient, deep techno, and techno scenes to create a compilation album (V/A). All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to ‘’The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)''. The release of the compilation is scheduled for early December 2023.

This month we welcome French artist Medulla Oblongata, co-founder of TRÊVE - ambient and visual arts collective - and curator of the recent 'Free Palestine' charity compilation. Medulla's hybrid ambient sets combine tape samples, droning machine loops and synthesizers. Here, he guides us through a profound and emotionally charged voyage, immersing us in intricate ambient drones and poignant melodies.
