As you all know we’re re-launching the radio with a brand new identity & content objectives. One of our new broadcasting system is called “Tiger Tapes”, this series will focus on international artists from every corner of the world. For our birthday & 1st of the series, we wanted it the be a very special mix. That’s why we went & got in touch with one of our biggest inspirations since our inception as a radio. 
He’s a big but hidden stage player, Amsterdam’s best-kept secret, an important figure in his native scene, you’ve guessed it, his name is Orpheu The Wizard.

And oh boy, how happy we are to have asked him to inaugurate our podcast series, he had carte-blanche for this mix & you can feel he went & dug up as deep in his record collection as he did his personal emotions. At first listen you are taken away by the mixtures of emotions that run throughout the 3 and half hour mix, a highly addictive touch helping you to unlock all spectrum of feelings. 

Filled with textures, glitchy but enticing drum patterns, voices from another dimension, pads that shine higher than the heavens, basses that reach untold frequencies. The mix is abundant with tracks that you will definitely be hearing for the first time, even us, diggers in the team, barely recognized any songs & that’s why he is called Orpheu The Wizard, his wand is the needle & we are his subjects.

MLD Compilation 2025 "Moments Of Light 'n Darkness"

This set brings together about three quarters of the tracks from the wonderful MLD compilation.  Given time contraints I couldnt include all, but i feel this highlights a diversity of sounds and styles of music within the dub techno space that the compilation showcases.    Without the artists names associated (and there are many of the genre's well know producers) the focus shifts to the music alone.

The compilation previews  a live event in form of an intimate open air festival called "MLD goes live" to take place  in August 2025 near Berlin.  Many of the artists in that two part compilation will perform at this event – so I hope to see you all there!

As I've been listening to a lot of old trip hop recently as well as everything that was probably played on the “chill out floor” in the 90s, this is also reflected in the mix. My love for “spaced out dubs” and cheesy vocals can't be hidden either.

Nummer's music is characterised by a passion for obscurity and authenticity. This characterises the records the French pair endlessly dig for, as well as the studio full of custom built and second hand pieces of hardware they collect.  When used to make their own music, the results range from ambient soundscapes to jacking dance floor bangers via electro futurism. It comes on their Nummer Music as well as Going Good with slick stylistic variations that also define this mix for us. 

The live and DJ duo create a loose and gangly groove early on here and keep it up over the course of an infectious 80 minutes. There's flabby slow motion techno, wiggling electro funk and cosmic acid call upon along the way. What ties everything together so neatly are the atmospheres around the tracks, which are never less than mysterious and inquisitive, so buckle up and enjoy the trip.
