Germany is not known for soul music, but some of the hottest disco artists of the 1970ies and 80ies were based in Germany. To be more precise, in Munich. Donna Summer, Moroder, Faltermeyer, Boney M or Silver Convention who created the „string disco sound“ came from Munich’s wild disco scene in the 1970ies. And that's the vibe you get with the new GOME guys. The 25 years old guys originally come from Munich. They have the Munich disco DNA. Which means: They feel the funk, they know about Soul music and good bass lines, they know how to groove (not to bang) and they have that slight sense of irony and easiness you need to make good disco music. (Some say the dark days of Berlin techno are over after Covid, Munich disco is the opposite.)

GOME are a live act. Their disco is played on several drum machines, keyboards, sequencers and microphone. (Check their live on Insta). Their first EP got massive props from the likes of Laurent Garnier („Love love love for this EP“) and other more funk oriented house DJs.

The new one goes further. It's 80ies disco. The first track „Teach you“ was produced in the raw style of early Prince or the legendary Sexual Harrassment. A pumping bass line, driving 808 beats and funky rap vocals is the only thing you need. Erobique, King of German disco and member of the band International Pony (DJ Koze & Cosmic DJ) did a stripped down remix showing that less is more.

Marking their label launch with an inaugural 12” of soulful wax, London-based collective REVIVEHER will be releasing a bag of remixes for Sultan Shake’s “Interstellar Love”; a funked-up psychedelic groove of extra-dimensional proportions.

Laying his grace on the track sees none other than BR fav Young Marco. If you’ve delved into our archives, you’ll know how this Dutch staple always brings the heat. His remix follows in the same vein, with a stripped-back tribal rework of the original that exchanges vocals for infectious percussive panache. Steel drums, scuttling bongos, and shimmering remnants of the original’s synth work are sure to get you going.

REVIVEHER's debut release drops on 12" on 7th October, with the digital version following suit on the 21st October.

Lumberjacks In Hell welcome Croatian producer Andrej Laseech to the table following his promising early outings on Be Yourself and Sound Exhibitions. On this release, Laseech has reached out to the mighty, eternally prolific Javonntte for a little vocal magic, resulting in the utterly sexy deep house burner "More Than Friends". It's a track that Marcel Vogel & Tim Jules clearly dig, judging by the light touch they applied to their own remix of the track. "Take You Away" on the flip is another sweet and sultry warm-up or backroom jam that gets lifted even higher by Javonntte's stellar vocals.
