John aka Jack Leigh. My grandfather playing the piano in his apartment in Montreal. Recording date is unknown. He self taped from a cassette recorder he placed on the piano. I put this together in 1999. After Grampa passed, my Uncle Frank gave the cassette to me to "see if I could do something with it". I tried to clean up the audio as best I could. I put together a CD. The cover is shown. This is on the reverse. "Jack Leigh. Chief clerk of the Export Traffic Department and has been with the company 3 years. Born in the North of England "near Bolton" which is in Lancashire. Jack came to Canada with his parents in 1925 and has been in Montreal ever since. That dent in his nose was caused when it was broken playing rugby some years ago. Jack still thinks rugby is the "greatest sport going" although he gave up such strenuous activities when he married in 1936. Well known throughout the company as a pianist of considerable skill, he ends up pounding the ivories at all company get togethers. In the past he wrote the words and music for 2 songs, one of which went by the intriguing title of " My Melancholy Days". A handyman around the house Jack can pick up a piece of scrap wood and whittle out a very presentable toy, a feat he does quite often, much to his youngsters delight. He confines his present extra-curricular activities to bowling and softball and is near the top with the best in the Montreal office. He has given up an earlier ambition of becoming a professional hockey player, although the Canadians could probably use him right now. "
