Unveiling the underground scene of Drum and Bass in Melbourne comes the young virtuoso behind the Artsea project and the onesevenfour label. We were lucky enough to have Artsea contribute to our third instalment of the T-Rex Soundcast Series. 

Aden gave his thoughts on the return of live music and how his introduction to EDM came about. This mix is a blend of past and future material that is yet to be released, a perfect blend of ambience and vibrancy for your day. 

Here's what Aden had to say about his career in music: 

'I did take a break from the genre and experimented with other things but I somehow managed to circle back and end up where I started. I’m glad the journey happened the way it did because that helped me explore and gain a more holistic view on music, it was almost an inevitable return to my roots in some way.'

T-Rex Soundcast 3 // Artsea

The Australian landscape provides a surreal setting for its artists to create. Melbourne producer/DJ Luke McPherson, aka Jon Jones, is no exception to this as his ambient trance EP Warrandyte Bridge Reno guides listeners through Warrandyte’s bushland. As the first release for Southern Exposure Records, expect to hear more from him soon.

Luke gave up his time to answer a few questions about the EP and spin a few tracks together for the first instalment of our T-Rex Soundcast series. Here’s what Luke had to say about the mix:

“I selected a lot of tracks that I really, really like. I think touching on with that whole kind of nature thing, a lot of tracks really represent that. I think there’s a really good Japanese ambient track at the beginning of the mix leading into some upbeat, but not in your face, and still sharing that natural theme throughout the whole mix…”

T-Rex Soundcast 1 // Jon Jones

It brings us great joy to have Darren and Julie from @sweatdreamsdjs launch our 2021 campaign with our second T-Rex Soundcast installment. The two have been working hard during Victoria’s lockdowns to expand their sound and make you dance in ways you didn’t think you knew before.

The mix recognises these efforts, scratching the surface of what the pair have been exploring lately from afrobeat to Arabic electronica to the deeper, darker forms of disco. It celebrates the underground scene and acknowledges the passion they have for music. 

In the interview Julie shared how mixing had been therapeutic for them during lockdown:

“The whole DJ thing for both of us is about looking after our mental health. The livestreaming was all about our wellbeing. If it made someone happy, or have a little dance or event watching us on the screen do funny things in the stream then that was a good thing.”
