It’s 2018 and judging by the surge of interest worldwide, it could also be the year of Jungle music. Over in Bristol at Born On Road headquarters the final touches have been put to the long awaited biopic LP from Aries entitled Jungle Style. For an artist who’s spent 20+ years on the road, released 100+ tracks, collaborated with every soundman and his dog and pushed the Jungle sound to it’s absolute limits, this album is something of a lifelong ambition - it’s the summing up of his journey.

If somehow you don’t know Aries and the Jungle scene, he honed his self-taught skills whilst living in Birmingham, London and Bristol. His first major release was Herb Smoke in 2006 which is sat comfortably on 3,000,000 Youtube views at time of press - something of an anomaly for Jungle; he’s a key figure in his collective’s - Chopstick Dubplate, Born On Road and Roots Recordings; he holds the 2016 We Love Jungle Award for Best DJ; he’s seen releases on prestigious Jungle labels Congo Natty, Dread and V Recordings; he DJs around the world so much that he has a tune called Worldwide Traveller with Top Cat and Mr Williamz celebrating their humble attitude for the continued use of ropey budget airline RyanAir. His career has been one of continued hard work and dedication to the sound which has paid off in respect from his peers and he now also commands a legion of dedicated followers that show support at his shows and through collecting the music he makes.

His LP Jungle Style travels across the spectrum of the Aries sound and - true to form - features many of his nearest and dearest friends. From one angle it's a who’s who of the A-list Jungle scene that all wanted to come and pay homage to the Aries legacy by being part of the project, and from the other side it was most definitely directed by Aries himself for it’s signature sound. The album was written, recorded and produced across 8 studios in Birmingham, Slovenia, Paris, London and Jamaica then finished off in Bristol, and that isn’t including where some tracks were part-produced with friends from other far corners of the world. It’s difficult to pick out the highlights as the diversity really does shine through which means there is something for everyone so long as you like it rough, tough and dangerous!

I knew him he’s my Homie every since I was a kid, grew up in the same home he was living where I live,  I was seeing how he suffered thinking somethings got to give, praying saying God Almighty please just let him 
live! I don’t want to lose him it’s my brother don’t  you know but August the 16th was when we had let him go, The infection spread through him and it took him really slow,  as I held his hand and cried and said I’m gonna miss you bro.

My family went to pray at the alter in the hospital thinking that he might have a chance if we pray a little,
But we was wrong cause he was done gone nothing left inside his body that was holding on no 
wasn’t that the night that they called a code blue my entire family freaking out watching nurses run through to his room  what we do 
we don’t know  my momma swears up and down she seen my brothers soul 
I believe you mama he was letting you know that he was getting up he was ready to go 
he probably prayed to God that he’d take him on home! momma said she turn and his spiret was gone 
I could sense the death as it grew in the air thinking to myself how this just wasn’t fair
The thought  that he was gone was just too much to bear
but I could only hope he knowd I was there and I cared


The sad thing is he didn’t use that long but when the urge came on it really came on strong  
at first he was a use and then it turned into abusing he was always fighting battles that he stayed steady losing 

if you got a friend or family member hooked on them drugs just reach out your hand and show them some love 
show him that you care man just give them a hug 
and we can ne-ver bring back all the 
ones that we lost but we should try and save the ones thats here no matter the cost 
sometimes we ponder on the ones that done gone but for all the ones that still here we  need to try and stay strong 
 
I bet you’re starting to notice there is a message in this song 
no matter who it is tell him keep on holding on tell them it’s OK one day the pain will be gone
