TV news broadcasts on all levels have one similar thing in common, hair... In broadcast news there is a standard when it comes to hairstyles for women. The "anchor bob" as its called has become synonymous with women in TV news. But this standard has also created discriminatory environments at many news stations which has left many women having to choose between their career and their hair. In this episode host Trey Evans gives commentary on the recent shooting and killing of Jayland Walker in Akron, OH. The 25 year old was shot at 90 times by police while running away from them. The incident eerily reinforces a point Frederick Douglass's made during his famous "What To The Slave Is Your 4th of July?' speech which he delivered in 1852. In that speech Douglass speaks to the injustice then and harsh punishment, including death of black people accused of crimes in comparison to white people. 170 years later, whose words illuminate the same issues today.
