Sebastian Olivares also known as SSABES, born and raised in the north of Chile in a surf town called Arica. He grew up listening to his father’s road trip soul music like WAR, Creedence and Santana. Since teenage years he’s been completely in love with groovy 90s jazz hip hop pioneers like ATCQ, De La Soul, J Dilla and Pete Rock.

It was only after moving to Berlin in 2018 when the passionate and endless hunt for those rare disco/funk tunes began, alongside acquiring his first mixer, a used Traktor Kontrol S2. Achieving a smooth blend of afro, latin, brazilian, disco/soul/funk, deep house and any type of smiling music that gives you that active start of the day.

Tanzino is a series of releases that will shed light to unknown territories of mutant club music. In TZ01 we are proud to present the debut EP of Geneva's well kept secrets : John Levi’- active in the local scene as a DJ, known as a sharp selector, always has a jack in the box in his sleeve, he keeps the dance floor burning. Son of La Zone (ghetto or neighbourhood in French), he is reflecting on the streets of his hometown. He is chopping samples from the middle east and north africa mixing and transforming them to heavy rhymes that drop with a siren. The EP begins with Lumbago Zone, written in the midst of an awful back pain, fusing a Kurdish melody with metallic percussion and a dense distorted beat. In Zone he is melting gritty dancehall with jungle breaks and a sample of a north African bagpipe named Zukra, In Vacarme de la Zone, (noise of the Zone) is an exploding industrial banger with a violin sample that intensifies the tension to the maximum. On the closing remix, veteran producer Krikor, creates an apocalyptic percussive bass mayhem, finishing this EP with a boom. This EP is revealing the heart concealed in the dirt, for ones with brave ears and strong legs. Welcome to La Zone.

Active in the local scene as a DJ, he is known as a sharp selector, he always has a jack in the box in his sleeve, keeping the dancefloor burning.

In his debut release as a producer, John Levi’ gives birth to Son of La Zone (ghetto or neighbourhood in French), a reflection of the streets and corners of his hometown. He fuses middle eastern vibes with gritty bass, dancehall and intense percussion, the sub will rumble.

Vacarme de la Zone, (noise of the Zone) is an exploding industrial banger with a violin sample that intensifies the tension to the maximum. 

The EP will be released on the 15th , digital pre-order is open!
