Sunrise From The Treetops is the remarkable debut of Hinkstep (Jonas Tegenfeldt), a talented musician and audio engineer born and raised in the northern part of Sweden. After discovering the “other side” of Infected Mushroom’s groundbreaking album Converting Vegetarians, Jonas was hooked on the manifold possibilities of downtempo psychedelia. His boundless experiments in the years that followed eventually gave rise to a refreshingly eclectic style further influenced by the likes of Porcupine Tree and Younger Brother. Now, having cultivated a bold creative vision, Hinkstep is ready to share the sublime experience of this unique album with the world. Project Globalsound is a global sound initiative for wellbeing, peace and unity orchestrated by therapeutic sound innovator Lyz Cooper. Music is a wonderful tool that unites, relaxes, energises and uplifts.  Lyz sent out a message around the world asking for submissions from anyone wanting to share their sound and music with others around the world and she was not disappointed!  Submissions came from many different countries and feature many different instruments - some of which are rare and ancient.  There are also natural sounds such as birds, cicadas and even goats! This song was just lyrics on a piece of paper Sunday 9th December 2012, but was originally released on here on the 10th. 

I will re-record the vocal as I am singing it more fluidly and more accurately on a tuning basis. now. Originally this was a poem (the lyrics are on my web site. margaretmjoyce.com) One thing this does prove is something that was originally a poem can have an interesting melody, dictated by the original wording. Sadly you have to lose some lines and change a few words to make it fit. Sometimes this improves the poem also. The lyrics make it quite powerful as a dedication and has purity, simplicity, but also force & an element of sadness and loss. 

I have to say it also proves (reality and) poetry is often very free - to shape it into a song, perhaps some of the randomness ('cos it sounds good) of the poetry and indeed life is lost, because it is almost impossible to not conform to a framework aka the song, chords, and ehem singer.

Poems are often a slice of time, they may be about the now, the future, or just a moment long since past. 

Dunno why but I think it would work with a didgeridoo!

Dark Water

Tribal Flora is music that transcends space and time. We started out as a group of friends casually meeting up and jamming out the sunsets by the seaside. We would mostly play tribal rhythms with earthy instruments at that time, using djembes, didgeridoos and morchang (Jew’s harp) and various indigenous drums. The sound gradually crystallized into a form which was earthy and primal.
More recently, we've built upon the solid foundation of tribal rhythm and added a variety of flavor to our music to create a unique sound. We include elements from Indian classical, tribal/folk, western (classical, jazz, blues, reggae, and rock), electronica, DnB and psychedelic music. Our sonic arsenal comprises of various indigenous as well as mainstream instruments: We got tablas, djembes, a drum kit, didgeridoos, kalimba, guitars, morchangs or mouth harps, flute and digital sound synthesis elements (MIDI/sequencer).
A lot of the inspiration is drawn from nature. We've spent a lot of time outdoors together, often jamming with the insects, birds, rivers, wind and fire. Most of our music is spontaneously improvised.
All of us in the band are different people, coming from different backgrounds, musical influences and training. The common ground beneath our feet is the love for music, higher living, freedom and basically having a truly great time. Music is an excellent medium to cultivate, communicate and set aside boundaries.
