Arriving on Patrick Topping’s Trick for the first time, the pair bring their big, booming techno to the label with two chunky tracks. Title track ‘U, My’ sees airy vocal chops floating over big kicks, knocking percussion and a hypnotic, looping low-end, combining to form a heavy club cut, while ‘Sun Sesh’ sees the duo reach for a combination of shuffling drums, tweaked-out FX, and rolling chords for a dynamic, chugging track.

Join the dots then dash it all to hell. Dynamic duo Shadow Child and Mark Archer link up once again for another rave romp 'Morse Code' and no amount of emergency messages are going to save our souls!

An absolutely awesome collaboration, the force between Shadow Child and Altern-8 don and all-round rave pioneer Mark Archer has been strong for some time now. First appearing on Super Rhythm Trax together under their MASC guise in 2018 with almighty techno headbutt 'Non Stop', they returned two years later in early 2020 with equally fired-up 'Return Of The MASC' EP. Both EPs were celebrated and savoured at the levels you'd expect.

Two years later and the pair return to our speakers this time on Catz 'n Dogz Pets imprint and they're armed with two more unruly late night tear-ups. 'Morse Code' hits with that classic detuned synth sound that smacks of a million Fantazias and is driven by a quirky, memorable spoken word sample. 'Toto' plays the consummate foil with a ridiculously bulbous and addictive bass riff that shines and slaps with the sound and energy of both artists.

Collabs of this weight and span are often misguided and don't quite hit the spot. But Mark Archer and Shadow Child have the perfect fusion that celebrates the last 30+ years of this culture and have enough diesel in the tank for the next 30, too. Time to crack some codes!

London’s Rawfox drops the four-track ‘Hit EP’ on Patrick Topping’s Trick this December.

Previously contributing his productions to labels such as Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains, Cube Recordings, and many more, London-based DJ/producer Rawfox arrives on Patrick Topping’s Trick label, bringing four hard-hitting vocal-tinged club tracks taking inspiration from house, techno, and beyond.

The title track ‘Hit’ leads the release, bringing heaving basslines and chunky drums together under Rawfox’s catchy processed voice, while ‘Supercar’ combines raw vocals with off-kilter synths and pumping kicks. ‘This Beat’ keeps the energy levels high before ‘Connection’ closes the release with tweaked-out leads, sharp percussion, and wonky FX nestled amongst more trippy vocals.

Returning to Trick following their ‘U, My EP’ in 2022, Dense & Pika bring their big, booming techno back to the imprint with two more heavy hitters. Title track ‘Brunt’ combines thunderous kicks and hoover-esque synths with twisted vocals for a warehouse-filling affair, while ‘Bag of Beez’ sees the duo draw for crunchy, shuffling percussion and pumping low-end for a heavy yet tweaked-out B side.

Dense & Pika are a British electronic duo compromising Hypercolour label co-founder Alex Jones and Chris Spero, aka Glimpse. Heading up the Kneaded Pains imprint, which has played host to Eats Everything, James Welsh, and Will Clarke alongside their own productions, the duo have been at the forefront of hard-hitting house & techno since the project’s inception in 2011.

Ango Tamarin & Efan Feekar ready ‘Oh My Gosh’ for Patrick Topping’s Trick.

Previously appearing on Trick with his ‘Steamroller EP’ in 2021, Ango Tamarin has since appeared on Circus Recordings, Knee Deep In Sound, and Saved Records. Since his contribution to the label’s ‘Tasty Techno Vol. 1’, Efan Feekar has released music on Kneaded Pains, Untidy and others.

Teaming up for the first time, the duo prep the large ‘Oh My Gosh’ for Trick this March. Combining rowdy stabs, chunky drums, and old-school rave samples, the track sees the duo go straight for the jugular. On ‘Wreck It Ralf’, Ango Tamarin goes solo, delivering crunching kicks and twisted FX for another heavy hitter.

Trick is an acclaimed dance music label and event brand owned and curated by global dance music icon, Patrick Topping.

The Newcastle native launched Trick in 2019 as a platform to spot and champion emerging artists, both in the studio and behind the decks. Since then, Trick has become one of the scene's most popular underground dance music event brands and record labels, launching the careers of some of the UK's biggest ticket-sellers and creating a cult fan following along the way.

As a record label, Trick is set to his 100 releases in 2024 and has given an outlet to many new signings who have since become some of the fastest-rising stars in the UK, such as Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing and Ewan McVicar, who delivered platinum-certified “Tell Me Something Good” along the way. 

Trick's loyal fanbase has become one of the most passionate communities in dance music, with fans sporting Trick's signature lightning bolt on merchandise and tattoos at events throughout the UK and beyond.
