Premiere: Chicks Luv Us - Jerk [Materialism]

Happy new year everybody! Well, not quite yet… But elrow Music wants to keep up with the high energy of the forthcoming holiday celebrations presenting its BPM compilation in advance for all of you, lucky people! ‘The BPM Release 2017’ compilation is our tribute to the most important festival happening in the beginning of 2017: BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Once again, elrow’s presence will be strong and elrow Music wanted to leave its mark in the 10 days stravaganzza happening in the Mayan Riviera. The twelve track comp opens with ‘Lights Down (Original Mix)’ by Cassell, a slow but firm statement of pure tech-house, with great and sexy vocals. Then, the energy starts to raise with Cristian Merino’s ‘Tech Nights (Original Mix)’, a total dancefloor killer with the vibe one expects from any elrow installment. Vibe that keeps up in ‘Jack Nation (Original Mix)’ by Freedom B, with a very recognizable and well placed vocal line and a strong percussion. It is followed by ‘Special Guest (Original Mix)’, this time by one of elrow’s resident, George Privatti: sexy vocals, strong bassline and the best vibe you can get in a dancefloor! Then we have Josu Freire’s ‘Come On (Original Mix)’, a true orgy of bass, amazing synth lines and perfect and darkish vibe. Another highlight, ‘Do It Like (Original Mix)’ by Marcellus Wallace & Ross Roberts, is a great track with an amazing groove and filled with soulful touches, making it perfect for any moment on the dancefloor. The compilation closes with ‘Trip ft. Major De (Original Mix)’ by Pax, maybe the darkest banger of the entire record, with great vocal lines, a strong techno progression, but filled with groove and good vibes. Altogether, this ‘BPM Release 2017’ will make a lot of people dance their way to Playa del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida to elrow Music’s pace. Great way to start the year!

A four-track release, ‘The 302’ opens with the title track: a stripped-back slice of high-energy house music that follows the same formula as Deeon’s 1996 cut ‘The 604’. Patrick Topping’s vocal edit sees the same track laced with a MC-style US vocal, before Chicago house legend Paul Johnson gives the track a more melodic feel with his remix. DJ, producer and Unknown to the Unknown label-head DJ Haus then closes out proceedings with a deep, robotic remix that’s underpinned by a hypnotic acid bassline.

The Newcastle native launched Trick in 2019 as a platform to spot and champion emerging artists, both in the studio and behind the decks. As a record label, Trick is set to his 100 releases in 2024 and has given an outlet to many new signings who have since become some of the fastest-rising stars in the UK, such as Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing and Ewan McVicar, who delivered platinum-certified “Tell Me Something Good” along the way. 

Trick's loyal fanbase has become one of the most passionate communities in dance music, with fans sporting Trick's signature lightning bolt on merchandise and tattoos at events throughout the UK and beyond. From completing a 9-date residency in 2022 at Ibiza's legendary DC10, to hosting a stage at EDC Orlando 2022, to attracting 10,000 ravers to The Warehouse Project in Manchester and bringing thousands to an Australian Debut in Melbourne in 2023. Then there is the Trick Weekenders, Budapest in 2022 and Tenerife in 2023. These events both saw 2,500 Trick Troops holiday and party together abroad, with Trick Tenerife this year set to double in size.

In 2024 Patrick is set to give back to his roots, bringing legions of fans to his hometown of Newcastle this summer 2024 with the launch of Trick Fest. Trick will also return to Ibiza, hosting a four-date residency in Hï’s Theatre on Wednesdays.
