Patrick Topping recruits Josh Micky for debut EP ‘Enigmatic Energy EP’ on Trick.

Josh Micky is a Yorkshire-based DJ/producer who has previously collaborated with fellow Trick affiliate Elliot Adamson, dropped scintillating mixes on Rinse FM, and DJ’d at storied venues such as Ibiza’s DC-10 and Leeds’ Mint Warehouse. Now readying his debut solo EP, Josh Micky delivers three pumping tracks for Patrick Topping’s label, taking inspiration from House, Italo Disco, Techno and beyond. 

“I’ve always been hugely inspired by the genres that were born throughout the 80s; there’s just something incredibly timeless and special about that era which forever draws me in. Therefore, I wanted this EP to encapsulate that nostalgic feel from that generation, whilst maintaining a modern-day twist. From start to finish, this new release is playful, emotive and full of character that I feel provides a great insight into the creativity that is to come from future productions of mine” - Josh Micky

Today's entry to the Local Selection Mix Series welcomes Galway-based DJ Niall Kelly. The skilled selector has provided us with an hour-long 3-deck recording comprising a whole host of tribal, hypnotic techno tracks from start to finish. 

Niall Kelly marks the 189th entry to the Local Selection Mix Series. He has crafted a sensational mix for our listening pleasure with just shy of 30 stellar selections. Niall boasts an infamous reputation across the West of Ireland as one of the sharpest DJs that they have to offer—garnering support slots for Hector Oaks and Midlands League as well as a slew of local party bookings in the process. Additionally, Niall has earned himself radio appearances on Flirt FM and Project Radio with Kapri-Sun.

If you are interested in listening to other Niall Kelly recordings there is a range that can be heard on his Soundcloud. Most notably, his 'Hardgroovin' mix series has amassed thousands of listens in total, showcasing a deep dive into his music library while highlighting his impeccable mixing skills. Fantastic.

The Newcastle native launched Trick in 2019 as a platform to spot and champion emerging artists, both in the studio and behind the decks. Since then, Trick has become one of the scene's most popular underground dance music event brands and record labels, launching the careers of some of the UK's biggest ticket-sellers and creating a cult fan following along the way.

As a record label, Trick is set to his 100 releases in 2024 and has given an outlet to many new signings who have since become some of the fastest-rising stars in the UK, such as Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing and Ewan McVicar, who delivered platinum-certified “Tell Me Something Good” along the way. 

Trick's loyal fanbase has become one of the most passionate communities in dance music, with fans sporting Trick's signature lightning bolt on merchandise and tattoos at events throughout the UK and beyond. From completing a 9-date residency in 2022 at Ibiza's legendary DC10, to hosting a stage at EDC Orlando 2022, to attracting 10,000 ravers to The Warehouse Project in Manchester and bringing thousands to an Australian Debut in Melbourne in 2023.
