The Eclectic Collective -- composition

This song began its life when Ken came to with a series of drum skeletons about half a year ago with the intent of starting several McDonald's themed songs that The Mysterious Decibel was writing for the group. Well MD had some life getting in the way and then decided to pursue another project full time, leaving us with four solid songs, but without vocals. Ken ended up supplying the solid lead vocals and harmonies you hear the whole way through, with original lyrics that he also wrote.
  But before any of that happened, we got this song together. Stephen was first up, coming up with the main guitar riffs that carry the whole way through. Josh responded quickly to the his guitar parts with some matching bass to go along with it. 
  About this time, Mark heard the funky break in there, and so installed every part of it all on his own, including the clavinet, organ, bass, and drums. Although, Ken is also still playing in the break, as well. When we had it pretty well set, Tez came along and added some fiery guitar to go along with it. Once we had it in the can, we turned it over to Mark for his expert mix. Stephen mastered it for us, too, for the final touch.
  This ended up being a satisfying product of The Eclectic Collective's teamwork. We hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

The North Pole was melting 
And fearing a catastrophe
Santa hitched up his reindeer and flew to Washington DC

The Air Force saw him approaching 
They scrambled a fighter jet
They almost shot him down before they realized he wasn’t a threat

They escorted him to the white house 
To meet the president.  
They posed for a photo together and then Santa Started to vent.

He said please mister president
I know you want to drill baby drill
But all those CO2 emissions are making the North Pole ill

He said I’m sorry Father Christmas 
But I’m not interested in energy that’s green
it’s more important to me that we have cheap gasoline
And free Toys made by Elves in the North Pole sounds very nice
But you’re taking away American jobs, so I won’t take your advice

Then Santa said that since the ice will soon melt away
He asked the President if they could move to the USA

He said you and Misses Clause are welcome
because you look just like me
But we can’t have those pointy eared elves
Living here in the land of the free

So Santa flew back to the north pole 
And sitting on the last patch of ice
Was a giant spaceship that even Elon Musk thought looked very nice
The Elves had built it while he was gone
tears of sadness ran down Santa’s face
And they all got on the ship, and they flew off into outer space

Now every Christmas Eve people look up at the sky
And they think about those good old days when Santa used to fly
Toys made by elves in the North Pole sure would be nice
But at least we get to buy our gasoline for a very cheap price.

This is a little holiday treat for everyone. Stephen came up with this instrumental with his friend MJ, with the intention of making it an open collab. I've literally never played a Christmas song before, let alone sung one for a recording. This was a lot of fun, though, singing the familiar melody and words of this classic. Big thanks for Stephen and MJ for sharing this with me, and all of us. Happy holidays to you, whether you celebrate Christmas, a different holiday, or no formal holiday at all during the winter solstice, I hope you enjoy this time of year.
