Outstanding and magnificent Jazz Funk jewel and first album ever by this killer combo led by Dino Piana & Oscar Valdambrini. An original Jazz Library recording used for the soundtrack of Rai TV programme "SERATA AL GATTO NERO", 1973. Top Italian groovy Jazz and mental album, easily a grail of the genre featuring some terrific breaks, killer Wah Wah guitar and Funky Hammond job, with a solid backing studio orchestra. Loads of laden stylish grooves with brilliant Modal Jazz numbers, smoothy vibes, and Cool Jazz influences with also different musical themes. Every track is just heaven with several hot club tunes for DJs. Solid masterpiece!

Solid Steel (1st September) In Hour 1 we welcome Josef Leimberg, the Los Angeles based trumpeter and producer, who released his debut album Astral Progressions on the Alpha Pup imprint World Galaxy in October of 2016. Astral Progressions featured Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Kurupt, and many more, garnishing praise from LA Times, Consequence of Sound, BBC, KCRW, LA Weekly, and many others. Close to a year later and the energy is still running strong for Josef's debut, captivating fans of eclectic music all over the world. This is a mix that represents the various influences of Josef Leimberg and was created during the final stages of recordings for his sophomore LP. He told us;
"This is a mix of some of my favorite tunes from some of the most influential artists to me. A lot of these songs have been a soundtrack to my life and bright moments in time. I love jazz, funk, fussion, blues, and progressive spiritual music. My favorite time period always seems to send me back to the '70s, which is my go to for inspiration. I hope you enjoy these selections. Peace and love to all music lovers!"

Solid Steel Radio Show 1/9/2017 Hour 1 - Josef Leimberg

Modified Man’s sound straddles decades. 

By surrounding themselves in tapes, synths, microphones and reverb boxes, they’ve sought not to wallow in nostalgia, but to grab some physical, real energy from solid objects, each with their own personalities, making a declaration about the future. One of physical expression in a digital era. 

The first EP from Albert’s Favourites co-founders and synth-production duo Modified Man focused on throwing out heavy editing, recording music with as few processes as possible and grabbing performances as single takes. 

Blending warped cassette recordings that touched upon early jazz-funk/brit-funk influences with the energy of broken beat and experimental electronica, won them support from Patrick Forge, Osunlade, Thris Tian, Yam Who? and Titeknots  to name a few. 

Since that release they premiered new track Thorns live on Boiler Room, going on to deliver a full, three-hour live performance and DJ set for the infamous global community. 

They also provided remixes for Dele Sosimi, Amp Fiddler, Makadem & Behr and Hector Plimmer, meanwhile, busily preparing a series of four, six-track vinyl EPs which will be released over the next 18 months. 

Kingswood Drive and Accidental Return are an early teaser of the next set, due in April. Displaying their signature analogue sounds and arpeggios, alongside broken beats and soul, you wouldn’t be alone in hearing the influences of Dam Funk, Herbie Hancock or Bugz In The Attic coming through on this release.
