This is probably my favorite American Idol original track released in 2005 and sung by my favorite American Idol, the versatile Carrie Underwood.  :)

"Ordinary Day" was a song written by Vanessa Carlton when she was just 17 years old and which released in 2002 as part of her album "Be Not Nobody" which also included the famous hit "A Thousand Miles."

Yes, there are bum notes, squeaky pedals and flubbed lyrics. I still have so much room to learn and grow. :)

2013 is a big year in music for Miley Cyrus, what with "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" stealing the scene and topping the charts. But you know, the ex-Hannah Montana has been making a lot of hits for the past couple of years and as proof of my being a fan early on in her career, here is an acoustic cover of a hit from one of her early albums. 

I had to change "She's just being Miley" to "Oh that's how she is usually." I know, it's kind of lame but you know, I'm no Miley and those were the words that fit and rhymed so...hehehe. And yes, the guitar playing sucks still but I hope it's starting to suck less and less as I am trying my best to get the hang of it. Also, yes, I got and sounded like I got tired at the end of the song. I'm no pro when it comes to fast songs and I do try my best to steer clear or slow these stuff down but you know, I'm all for trying new things these days. :)

Last few weeks for this school year.  Of course I'm studying, what with all these final exams! Just decided to record a song while on a short "study break." 
I have always loved this song by Maria Mena: it speaks volumes on insecurity and feeling inadequate and all those "what if's" that a person may have.

So yeah, "maybe I'll get there."

So summer vacation's finally here! I finally have a lot of time to spend reading the piles of books that I've had untouched during the school year and to watch all the movies I've longed to see. Most especially, I have time to make one-take acoustic covers of songs that I can't get out of my system because I genuinely like them. 

I was sorting out my files on my laptop when I came across a cover of this exact song that I made 4 years ago. I have totally forgotten about it. So I decided to make a cover of my past cover. Whoo so many covers. Basta! I love this song. :)

If We Ever Meet Again - Katy Perry & Timbaland (Cover)

Haphazardly recorded while rehearsing in a classroom for an event in school last September. This cover(like all my other covers) is by no means perfect but what makes this cover different from all others is that it has the best guitar accompaniment which made it so much easier to concentrate on just feeling and singing and letting the music work its magic (Thank you, Jet!). 

Also, what made this more special was that I wasn't alone in an empty room but I was in the company of music-loving friends with infectious positive energy which propelled this to undisputedly become one of my most favorite singing experiences ever(Thank you Babs, Stephen, Ate!). 

I guess I was reminded that like all things, music becomes more magical and infinitely more powerful when shared. :)

I chose this song because it's one of those songs that I heard when I was a little girl that made me love music and realize how powerful it can be as a mode of storytelling. Also, Alanis Morissette is one of my musical heroines: brave, raw, pure, powerful and crazy talented. 

I don't have any copy of a video or audio of the actual performance itself but I'd like to think that it went well. :)

This was my last cover for 2014 mostly because of the horrible cold that stuck with me for the last weeks of the year which held my voice hostage. Thankfully, it's now back but I still have lots of recovering to do. 

Anyway, I'm happy that I'm closing a very memorable and musical year and starting another year with a song from the top selling album of 2014: 1989! This is my favorite song from the said album, it's very poignant and shows the depth of Taylor Swift's storytelling that's most often overlooked by people. Also, Ingrid Michaelson's cover brought my attention to this song and inspired this raw, acoustic, one-take cover recorded while I was still keeping Mr. Flu at bay. Hehe!

This may be my last recording for a long while as 2015 is looking to be a hectic and tough year that demands immense focus and intense determination. :)

Whenever I feel down and uninspired (which is not that often but not seldom either), this has been my go-to song lately. I was feeling particularly out of touch when I recorded this song and I felt empowered by it. Sia's songs are awesome, empowering and motivating avenues of much-needed katharsis.

This is a shortened version of Lil Wayne's hit, I've yet to work out how to sing the entire song (the second verse, specifically). I like how this song is unexpectedly cute and sweet given that this is by Lil Wayne. Truly, I'm a fan. Hehe. :) #unexpectedhiphoplistener

Quick mashup of two amazing tracks: Starving and Let it Out. 

I was only supposed to cover Starving but as I was recording it, I was reminded of Ed Sheeran's Let it Out for some weird reason. So I let the weirdness take over hence this mashup of sorts. 

First time to do "palm muting" hence I did flub a lot of the chords. But hey! I am getting better at guitar, that's what matters. Here's to awesome songs and learning to fuse them and continuing to learn how to play guitar!!!
