The next instalment of our mix series comes courtesy of Endmodell - one hour of slinky 2-step and boisterous breaks!

Trip the Light return with their second release, provided by another of their residents, Akïi, who follows up their recently released debut album with a highly charged two track EP, sweep / shift.

First up is “sweep”, where the twitchy, lopsided rhythm is underpinned by a serrated bassline, which buzzes menacingly like a swarm of angry hornets. The warped vocals, ominous synth and piercing percussion only add to the sinister mood.

PREMIERE: Akïi - sweep [Trip the Light]

There was change in the air, some sort of strange shift.

The tone of the evening had become ominous and menacing as the lights flickered and flashed beneath the bridge. Cars went past oblivious to the crowd who had gathered upon the bridge to watch the race unfold. In the distance the sound of engines could be heard from up on the hillside.

Plastic egos were aplenty, fragile yet furious in equal measure.

Soon everything would be dark but for the headlights careering through the darkness. They'd watch from overhead as they drove strikingly beneath - onwards and into the black.

Trip The Light originated in Manchester but is now based in Berlin, the collective, come partym come label have been at the forefront of a new wave of bass music which challenges the preconceptions of the genre and this new release from one of their residents Akïi cements that.
