The world is a dumpster fire wrapped in a hellfire roasting in a barbecue pit, but Hot As Sun, aka Jamie Jackson and Deborah Stoll, are dropping a new EP. 
  
Joined by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, St. Vincent, Nine Inch Nails) on bass and mixing duties, the new EP — It Was Bananas — is a jagged mashup of rebellious hooks and raw, tropical, dance-punk buzz.  
 
“During the lockdown, T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo and Rachel Yoder’s book, Night Bitch inspired me to pick up a bass and just get wild and honest. Motherhood, especially during a pandemic, is complicated and I felt lost creatively, but as the songs started to come…I realized being a mom was very f**cking rock- n-roll. With the help of Deborah, I tapped back in. She always lights the match.” -Jackson

Two independently accomplished women in their own right, Jamie composes for film & TV and is currently scoring Apple TV’s upcoming drama, Bad Monkey. Deborah is a widely published writer, working on her second book for Harper Collins about the rise of female, LQBTG and non-binary skateboarders, dropping Spring, 2023.   
  
Hailing from Mississippi and NYC respectively, Jamie and Deborah began releasing music as Hot as Sun after meeting over a soundbath at the Integreton in Joshua tree. Lauded by the LA Times as sounding like “Kate Bush at her first fake-ID rave” and writing “John Hughes montage-ready songs that sound like the Supremes throwing a dance party with the Strokes,” they’ve opened for Phantogram, Foster the People and Gotye and created rooftop water ballet pool parties and multi-media downtown underground art performances “that may owe something to the Velvet Underground at the Exploding Plastic Inevitable.”

#1 Dads (formerly Dads) is the solo moniker of Tom Iansek, the front man for acclaimed alt-pop band Big Scary. The project is a way for Iansek to remain creative between Big Scary album cycles and touring, and to find a place for songs that would remain homeless outside of his more well-known outfit.

About Face has been built over the past two years. Songs about mundanity, songs about desire, songs about loss… themes sung about for centuries, and delivered in a restrained and humble manner on this new LP.
The most notable development from 2011’s Man Of Leisure is a new foray into collaboration, a taste for which Iansek developed while working with external musicians on Big Scary's Not Art, and skill which he honed through his work as a producer for other artists. In his words, co-writing was “a way to lighten the burden of writing/recording/mixing/producing an album by myself”. Indeed, once the riffs for So Soldier and Return To were written, Iansek’s mind took him to Ainslie Wills’ and Tom Snowden’s voices respectively, rather than his own.

Blond Ambition (@b4boy) is the new solo project from Ex Cops’ founder Brian Harding. After living in the woods of upstate NY for three years, Harding spent a month in LA, recording what would later become a full length album with producer & friend Andrew Miller. 

The first material from those sessions is single 'Hurricanes' - a lush and dream inducing track set against a crisp world beat, purposeful bassline and astral guitar parts. 'Hurricanes' suggests a world that's both catchy and complicated - an undeniable sense of heaviness permeates the track, but it's buoyed by acceptance. Mature material by an artist who understands that music must be personal, despite the risk. Traces of acts E.S.G. and '77 Dead can be heard in the material. 

'Hurricanes' is bundled with B-side 'Confused Forever'. Blond Ambition’s debut LP will be released early 2017.
