Hanamizuki ('Dogwood') is the fifth single of Yo Hitoto and one of her most famous songs. At the time of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, she wrote the lyrics in about a week, triggered by an email from her friend in New York. At the time of writing the lyrics, there were words such as ""terrorism"" and ""shotgun"" on about three sheets of A4 paper, and Hitoto has said that writing the lyrics was really challenging. Hitoto herself thought it was strange how she played around with the lyrics to arrive at the words: ""May you and the person you love be together for a hundred years."" With this song as a motif, a movie with the same name was made that tells a pure love story taking place over the span of 10 years. The director was Nobuhiro Doi and the lead actress was Yui Aragaki.
When I was living in Japan, whenever I went to the subway station, I often heard street artists cover this song. I was so impressed by their passionate voices that I always listened until the end of the song. Finally I was able to cover this song myself. It's not perfect, but I hope you will enjoying listening. Vào thời điểm xảy ra vụ tấn công khủng bố ngày 11 tháng 9 ở Hoa Kỳ, cô đã viết lời bài hát trong khoảng một tuần, khởi nguồn từ một email của một người bạn của cô ở New York. Vào thời điểm viết lời bài hát, cô đã viết những từ như ""khủng bố"" và ""súng hoa cải"" trên khoảng ba tờ giấy A4, và Hitoto đã nói rằng việc viết lời bài hát thực sự rất khó khăn. 「ハナミズキ」は、一青窈の5枚目のシングルであり、代表曲の1つです。アメリカ同時多発テロ事件発生時、ニューヨークにいた友人からのメールをきっかけに、一週間ほどで書いた詞でした。作詞当時は、A4用紙3枚程で「テロ」・「散弾銃」といった言葉があり、一青いわく「挑戦的な詞」であったと言われます。その詞を削っていって「君と好きな人が百年続きますように」の言葉にたどり着いたのは、一青自身も不思議に思っていました。この曲をモチーフにして、『ハナミズキ』という、10年の時をかける純愛ラブストーリーを物語る映画が誕生しました。監督は土井裕泰で、主演は新垣結衣でした。
日本に住んでいた時、地下鉄の駅に行くとストリートアーティストがこの曲をカバーしているのをよく聞きました。 彼らの情熱的な歌声に感動し、いつも曲の最後まで耳を傾けていました。やっと自分でこの曲をカバーできました。完璧ではないですが、聞いてみてください。 最後に、このビデオはオーバーヘッドカメラで撮影したので、私と一緒に弾いてください。
