Carmen Electro is a Finnish DJ who received her techno education on the dancefloors of London and Berlin. Her sound is defined by energetic motives that play with dark and light emotions. Much of her record collection comprises of old and new techno, old-school trance and acid, as well as electro. Since the start of the pandemic, she has however gained an increased desire to focus on solely playing techno, as she finds comfort in the thriving, groovy, yet dark emotions that her selections within the genre convey.

The excellent Spanish based label @DustREC are an offshoot of Getting Projects booking agency, which helps support artists on their roster. Looking at their 8th release due soon they have featured artists like Kwartz, Hector Oaks and H. Paul for example.

Friend of DT, South Korean @Soolee makes his debut with his EP titled Cinder. Contributions also arrive from one to watch @JosePouj and the very interesting duo called @Agnosiamusic.

“Surge” is an atmospheric breather, that swirls from the bottom up. Beginning like a dormant tornado getting ready to spin again, the tension slowly rises by way of some screeching chords and pinging bells all the while the beat remains punchy, deep and exciting as it progresses. Breaking out into more melody parts this is a perfect storm that can be used as a secret weapon for various points of a set.

We hate to say we told you so but... we told you so. It's been a number of years since we first tipped Vienna based Brazilian Joyce Muniz for the big time and having enjoyed watching her meteoric rise through the scene, we're now delighted to welcome her back to Data Transmission for the second time this year.

The arrival of her 'Tilt Forward' EP marks the end of a stellar year for Joyce and having already dominated dance floors the world over with top drawer outings for Exploited and 20/20 Vision, she's arguably saved her strongest release for last. Aimed squarely at the small hours,  Tilt Forward combines a crisp vocal hook with warm chords and distorted soundscapes for a track deep enough to satisfy even the most discerning of deep house connoisseurs.

Steve Rachmad is welcomed to the vinyl-only offshoot Drumcode Limited. ‘Disturbance’ is a punchy little number that has a stuttering synth that rises over the top of the pounding kick drum. ‘Steps’ takes it up a notch with a simplistic bleep pattern that modulates throughout that is awash with a throbbing undercurrent.

London-based imprint Axe on Wax brings in the new year by taking on four of house and techno's greats on their forthcoming AOW006 opus: Chicago's Boo Williams and Underground Trax's Jordan Fields, with Detroit's Andrès and Italy's pride Steve Murphy on remixing duties. Maestro of the Motor City, Andrès brings the love in his take on Boo Williams' "Accelerate". Warm pads, undulating bass and an unstoppable skippety drum line follow you throughout, with an insatiable rhythm that brings the authentic DJ Dez flavour – instantly recognisable and warmly welcomed on any transatlantic dancefloor.

10th planet EP is the sophomore full ''Remco Beekwilder'' effort through Stranger's Self Reflektion imprint. This package, that bundles 3 copious originals also comes with an audacious ''Tripeo'' remix.

The Den Bosch based producer opens up with the title track ''10th Planet'' which serves as a enthusiastic opening track that could easily be utilised in any kind of club situation. Planet Moria (A2) is a more  psychotic twist on early Techno. The synthesis in this cut hint to the hay days of the Rotterdam sound for which of course Self Reflektion should be a warm home. 

Tripeo opens up the B side with his take on ''Planet Moria'' taking the work out of it's original context and cleverly moulding it into an adventurous club joint which is lead by original percussion bits and firm drum action. 

''Remco Beekwilder'' closes down REFLEKT008 with the stomper ''Irregular Acid''. An intrusive Techno cut for the more intense club moments.
