'Б' is the first LP of three LPs which will see Bjarki release 41 tracks from his archive

Bjarki is from Iceland. Born and raised. Despite the fact that Bjarki is known for making extremely powerful
dancefloor tracks he doesn’t seem to belong to any particular genre. Something this triptych of LPs
demonstrate very well. His music is at times cinematic and there’s a story behind each track. Bjarki’s music
always has something to do with him personally, but he’d rather the listener lose themselves in the music
than pay much attention to the man behind them. Either on a record or to one of his ever evolving live sets.

Б | Lefhanded Fuqs | Æ will be released over the coming months and represent a snapshot of his archive,
selected by Nina Kraviz for Trip. The tracks were produced months ago, years ago, or in the case of the last
track just a couple of weeks ago. What began with 30 tracks is now 41. The three LPs aren’t albums in the
traditional sense - the concept being to release the contents of his burgeoning hard drives. The music might
fit together like an album, but Bjarki doesn’t see it that way. It’s essentially an archive that sounds like an
album but none of the music was made with this in mind.

‘’I think making an album is always hard, especially with all critiques that can be scary, in the end I just want
people to enjoy what I put out without the music being forced into some category’’.

“Б” [TRP007 |17th June] - consisting of more ravey, sample-based music, mostly tracks that Bjarki never
had any intention of releasing. But since Nina has been playing many of them in her sets, releasing them
has been given new meaning. In the rave culture of the 90s, that’s proved a strong influence on many of
these tracks, what matters was actually “being there”. There was no immediate or alternate technological
way to experience it otherwise. "Б" из “B” letter in cyrillic. It’s a word play. A missive for “being" in the
moment, being present, being aware… B is for Bjarki.

The artwork is again all done by Tombo, but the art direction was to depersonalise, emphasising that there
was no particular idea behind the archives. It’s a hint that Bjarki wishes he could give a pen to everyone
who buys the vinyl, so they can write and draw whatever they want to imagine. Bjarki would like to see
peoples art for the LP. (The artwork is just a pen and the pen in Tombo’s hands.)

Stroboscopic Artefacts is proud to welcome on board Singapore-based Xhin. With his production wizardry he has been crafting ominous cuts of cutting-edge techno. 'Fixing the Error' is an enormous peak-time club killer. Xhin knits together the sinister sound of the revolt of the machines. High frequency drum machines and ferrous sub-bass synthesizers are working urgently against the clock. Close your eyes, dissolve, step into dystopia. You are transported into a post-human cityscape where strobes reflect off smelting metallic sounds and deafening alarms wail. These warning codes, layer upon layer, fashion a vision of a metropolis gorging itself on sprawling noises. The flip side, “Link” has no narrative. Instead, this deep, brooding slice of dub-techno is composed of pure atmospheric pressure. The undercarrige slithers and slinks, interrupted by crackles of lightening and prehistoric rumbles. The result is a construction created in a cold palate of pyrite grey: bubbling, spherical and terrifying. This is dark. This is urgent. This is Xhin. The release also generously includes two digital-only bonus dj tools, to expose the DNA of Xhin’s playful ideas.

International Deejay Gigolo Records presents the first remix package of Joyce Muniz. After the Ep release of „Toxic People“ and „Dreamz“, the remixes focus now on the main track. The new two-track release features productions by DJ Hell and Meriton. Both give the original a new twist. DJ Hell´s remix has a high energetic techno electro vibe and Meritons Rework adds a more atmospheric and dark approach. 

The artwork for „Toxic People“ was created by Leipzig-based artist Silvia Trost, whose forth lies in oil and acrylic paintings. She now frequently collaborates with glitch art artists and loves to mix materials and techniques, both analogue and digital.

Special Request joins forces with Nina Kraviz and Anastasia Kristensen, shattering the doors of perception over a four-track EP. ‘Through The Looking Glass’ drops 27th July on Houndstooth.

On the A side, Nina Kraviz provides two interpretations of ‘Curtain Twitcher’. ‘Alice Was Here Remix’ takes the intensity of the original and boils it into a 4/4 spin of frenzied basslines and distorted acoustics, punctuated by her languid reading of the Mad Hatter. For the ‘Samba Remix’, syncopated polyrhythms take charge of a fragmented melody.

Opening the AA side, ‘Looking Glass’ lures you down the rabbit hole with mysterious bleeps, only to reveal a whirlwind of stormy breaks and junglist percussion. Closing off the trip, Anastasia Kristensen’s remix of ‘Tiresias’ marches its way through a field of swollen bass and glitchy percussion.

Token starts off 2019 with aplomb, courtesy of a new three-tracker from Inigo Kennedy. Entitled Trajectory, this set of compositions continues to cement his legacy as an innovator who has been evolving his own style for more than two decades now. Starting off with the thwacking title track, Kennedy balances bright melodies and ethereal chords alongside rhythms that stir long after the track has faded away. "Tone Poem" is methodically coy around emboldened percussive storytelling that takes center-stage up until its last moments. "Turmoil" is a sci-fi trip that beams down to the dancefloor with thundering drums.
