For this episode of Re-Leaf Radio we are pleased to welcome Vietnamese born, Paris based DJ,Producer and co-founder of label 'Smiling Phases', NairLess.

Beginning his music journey as a classically trained pianist, he incorporates his wealth of technical knowledge into not only his productions, but also in his DJ sets. He has been on our radar from quite some time as we first caught on to his incredibly dreamy house and trance tinged productions a couple of years back.

This mix showcases NairLess' love for old school 90’s early trance, balearic, progressive house, as he indulges us in 60 minutes of melodic and tribal bliss.

About the mix: This set is a selection of tracks that have really been resonating with me lately, including some vinyl that I cherish and haven’t played out as often as I should. I wanted to create a mix with deep emotions and introspection, starting with some atmospheric Italian house and floating briefly toward progressive house, before getting more emotive and bold. The set ended up being quite deeply rooted in the 90s, with a few tracks bringing in modernity, though still nostalgic and cheeky. The vocals from the tracks focus on feelings, needs, and self-determination, which is why I also wanted to steer the mix toward empowerment. Another way I wanted to make it empowering for myself and other FLINTA is by including incredible femme vocalists and producers, such as Crystal Waters, Kim English, Dina Carroll, Vicky Martin, and Ladymonix. Vocals are vital to the culture, and I hope all FLINTA contributors get the recognition they deserve in this scene!
House music is so powerful because it can evoke such a wide range of emotions in everyone, moving us in different ways and giving us space to express ourselves and connect with our feelings. It can be introspective, romantic, bold, sexy, uplifting and more.This mix, while just embodying parts of house music’s emotional spectrum, is a reflection of tracks that I've connected with, that give me strength, and of course, make me dance!

House music has always been a force — shaping the dance floor and creating connection. In this set, MI$$ JUNIA pays tribute to the pioneers who built the foundations of dance music while celebrating artists pushing the sound forward today as per usual.
In light of Black History Month, she blends classic grooves from Detroit and Chicago with contemporary tracks, all set against visuals from the iconic show Soul Train. With its origins in a UHF station in Chicago, Soul Train offered a genre-expansive and afro-centric space for Soul, R&B, Funk and Hip-Hop where Black artists and dancers thrived. 
As a humble homage to Soul Train’s founder Don Cornelius, may his catchphrase reverberate while you go and listen to this set: „… and you can bet your last money, it’s all gonna be a stone gas, honey! I’m Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace… and SOUL!“

The Gaso is an institution in the Naarm/Melbourne music scene. Established in 1861 it's hosted some of the biggest local and international artists in dance music + rock and heavy metal. Sadly, it was forced to close it's doors due to increased financial pressure on the music scene.

It's been one of those places that’s been so pivotal to my development as an artist and as a promoter, and even as a person.

There will never be anything like it again here in Naarm. A roof that opens and closes creating the most glorious day parties in the summer. All the twists and turns to get to the smokers nook, and back to the front during a full venue party. All the history etched into the walls and the stickers from parties stuck all over the venue. That you could trace like a tapestry of the local scene, from before I was even legal until now.

I had the honour of opening the last ever party at The Gaso, from 1-3pm. Going from a jazzy number, to thought-provoking house, to proggy bangers and finishing with a classic 90s banger very fitting for the mood.

Thanks for all the memories Gaso. You will be missed, like the desserts miss the rain.
