Originally commissioned as incidental cues for a short film by Helsinki based designer Paola Suhonen, Intiaani Kesä (Indian Summer) by multi-instrumentalist Jane Weaver has since grown into a fully formed project lending itself to a number of further cinematic productions and creative applications . Appearing alongside Demdike Stare and Brigitte Fontaine in the vampire film Kiss Of The Damned by Xan (daughter of John) Cassevetes and recut and performed as an alternative rescore to Eiichi Yamamoto's Belladonna Of Sadness for various live performances, this set of well-crafted themes takes it's brazen influences of Nicolai, Dell'Orso, Alessandroni and Daniella Casa back to their purest analog recording origins with startling effect. Recorded in an old vicarage near the Peak District, housing a unique analogue experimental studio, Intiaani Kesä hears Weaver deploy a wide range of instruments including tubular bells, bowed guitars, vintage Goblinised Roland string synths, detuned pianos, church bells, Roland guitar synths, harpsichords and ex-Radiophonic Workshop custom equipment as accompaniment to wordless and onomatopoeic chorale vocals recorded on valve microphones with space echo, sonic room reverbs and bespoke experimental tape delays. Made in a disciplined and unforgiving environment without modern technological shortcuts these self-initiated creative research prototypes were not initially intended for commercial release but are thankfully gathered here as songs in there own right independent of context.

LA-based electronic duo OOFJ are elated to announce the release of their sophomore album Acute Feast (April 21 on Ring The Alarm Records).

The brainchild of real-life couple Jenno Bjørnkjær and Katherine Mills-Rymer, the LA-based electronic duo OOFJ met in New York City while Bjørnkjær was working on music for Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia. This chance encounter developed into both a romantic and sonic chemistry that would eventually lead to the couple collaborating on music that formed the foundations of OOFJ.

Equal parts glamorous and nightmarish, with a glittery seductive tone to it, Acute Feast hints at the otherworldly, almost hyper-real world that OOFJ don’t just reside in, but have orchestrated.

"we'd like to welcome back our old friend rafi bookstaber. it's all good…the immediate thing i felt when i jammed his "late summer" for the first time was wanting to hug life, cosmic love in the underground.
this is a diff kind of human digitata, it's sweet analog. you dig spring reverb, then maybe flesh it with sum RA-fi. pure jam. extended solos and explorations go from downtown woodland discord and eternal reverie to relatively clean rivers & beat earth poetics. pretty darlin' indeed...
what a vapor trail of music, very groovy to see folks finally catching up to this HEAD. dawn of a new vibration out of his occult pedigree in so many spaced out earth objects (death chants/aswara/von himmel/mendocino). bookstaber also logged golden hours with time-lag and that deep scene. the beginning of an ear and golden spirit juice. mined private press vision with his own azriel and humito imprints, shucked handmades -> there's also his groove & howl with the wolfpack in the MV/EE axis. oxide, preserves and records…rafi hummed the music of maidens. iron maiden this is not, shipbuilding it sails, four sail and many years ago i was there, so was rafi's FI. you dig apache? find some wampum, blow a journey, be here now for late summer eternal…"

“DEREVAUN SERAUN” is a piece I wrote a couple years back in five movements for voice, piano and string trio. Each movement is written about a different piece of literature, exploring the value I see in each work and the impression it has made on me, and there is nothing more to it than that. The pleasure of books – of good verse and stories and ideas – is a very simple thing, and I felt that some lofty unifying theme for the entire piece would be a betrayal of that belief. I think that when a work resonates with you it is an instinctive response to something. You can be taught to understand a challenging book, but not to feel affection for it; I think a lot of conversation around art, especially around literature, sometimes forgets this. In my experience, the art I like the most, irrespective of its 'difficulty', is the art I can advocate most directly and plainly, and about which I can say: “I read this piece and now I do not read or think in the same way that I did before”, or: “This is a story that I could not explain to someone; I do not understand it word-for-word, yet I feel like innately I understand the whole, and that the whole spoke to me”. Here Or Nowhere will be released as a vinyl LP and via digital services on April 5, 2019, and represents the most complete and definitive statement yet from an artist who has built a strong local reputation emerging from the creative heat of the Leith studio that spawned Mercury Prize- winning act Young Fathers – with whom Callum plays keys and lap steel live and has toured with as support. ‘Fall In Love’ is released as a PostMap Postcard single February 25 and via streaming services February 28.
