Fresh from remixing Foreign Guest’s recent single ‘Rek’ for Berlin’s Crossfrontier Audio, London-based producer Rashid Ajami is proud to present his inaugural EP for Noir Music ahead of its release on September 25th. ‘Night Prayer’ ft. JAW - complete with two remixes from Parisian trio dOP - taps into the distinctive, deeply-resonant sound that first saw Ajami catch the attention of influential tastemakers Anjunadeep back in early 2013.

Centred around a deep, peak-time groove, ‘Night Prayer’ first and foremost exhibits Ajami’s flair for writing song-based music. Gentle, percussive layers and short bursts of melody provide the perfect foil for JAW’s hazy, dream-like vocal flow to take centre stage to lucidly mesmeric effect. Beautifully balanced and squarely aimed at the dance floor, it’s abstract, prayer-like composition also means it has legs away from the club too, reinforcing Ajami’s ability to produce records that connect in both different ways and crucially, spaces.

Backed up by a pair of remixes from revered beatmakers dOP - one a deeper, tech-leaning vocal rework and the other a stomping, melody-laced instrumental dub - ‘Night Prayer’ represents some of Rashid Ajami’s best work yet, adding to a growing discography that already includes releases on Anjunadeep, Cajual, Kittball and Armada.

Dear tired, sleepless friend, I’ve laid down ‘SLEEP OUT’ as ground zero (#000) of my new project and creative hub OUTTAKES. A golden-tinged, therapeutic 3 hour mixtape depicting the most sleepy, meditative and cosy curation of tracks. Featuring works from the likes of Prefuse73, Burial, Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jon Hopkins, Robag Wruhme, Stimming, Nils Frahm, and Sigur Ros to name but a few this is a mix to happily get lost within; 48 tracks to soundtrack the most libidinous of moods.

Two of my own productions ‘Gone Love’ & ‘Unter Deck’ bookend this mixtape, which were tailored to stand alongside some of the most beautiful tracks by artists, friends and labels that I truly respect and who have all been a source of inspiration for me. I’m excited to present their work in a such personal space. Further original production work will follow in future editions of OUTTAKES with this set of selections serving as a serene opening chapter and a statement of intent of things to come. Researched and road-tested over the last few years, the end result is the product of a tireless labour of love and stands in stark contrast musically to the majority of my previous artistic endeavors. After playing hundreds of house and techno gigs in over 40 countries with ROBOSONIC, this dedicated mix represents the very opposite of physical music, redressing the balance I would seek to attain as a tool to relax whenever I needed to unwind. Thus it was only natural for OUTTAKES to start at the lowest level possible… horizontal business.  Go share this heartfelt mixtape far and wide, but most importantly hand it to those who deserve sweet dreams and a good rest.

Sol Selectas is excited to welcome Kora to the label with his debut 2 track release the "Caddo EP". The title Caddo is inspired by the confederacy of several Southeastern Native American tribes, and the music brings us to a late-night ceremony. All the members of the tribe are united and chant together, and through the native drums, we feel the strength of their gathering. Wahiba - co-produced by Nic Falardeau, is the story of a lone nomad wandering the desert, confronting his fears, and overcoming them with his inner spirit.  The faith in his heart guides him along his path. Powel is well known for his soothing deep productions and appears here on Sol Selectas for his second remix. He brings the Wahiba pilgrimage to even further regions of the sand dunes, blissfully carrying us into the morning sunrise with his unique and patient approach to rhythm. The artwork by Helia Jamali fuses these two spiritual journeys together into one, visualizing the native's eternal quest under a dim moonlit sky, warmed by the fires of tribal unity.

Sol Selectas new release welcomes the return of Ulises who featured tracks on the last two Summer Sol mixed artist compilations, but this time returns with his own EP also including remixes from David Mayer, Geju and Roderic.

Argentinian artist Ulises has a downtempo style that blends ambient textures with earthy percussion and aboriginal chants to create chugging grooves with hallucinogenic sound design. Along with Sol Selectas his tracks and remixes have also been featured on LNDKHN, Exotic Refreshment, Cosmic Awakenings, Kamai Music and MoBlack Records.

Germany’s David Mayer is a highly sought after remix artist who has worked with labels such as Mobilee Records, Stil Vor Talent, Get Physical, Bedrock and Objektivity. Having reworked the music of people like Rampa, Audiojack and Claude VonStroke, he previously featured on Sol Selectas in 2018 with a remix of Zakir and is now making a much-anticipated return.

Roderic brings the heat with the Mexican flair he has previously showcased via regular releases on Katermukke, but his exceptional talent for downtempo melodic tracks can also be heard on the likes of Magician On Duty and Bar 25 Music.

Geju is the last of the remix artists to feature on this release, and the Russian duo are making their Sol Selectas debut with a stunning remix that adds to a back catalogue already including labels such as Ouie, Leveldva and Metanoia.

In the words of Ulises “the concept of the Más Allá EP (translated as Even Further) is an attempt to go beyond the boundaries of the mental experience, trusting our inner voice to guide us into the expansion of our being.”

The exotic sounds of “Sian” open the release with ambient wildlife samples and trippy guitar licks. Next up is “Obelisk” which has a stripped back style with a moody jazz saxophone blending with clicking percussion. Track three “Pinneal” is an epic journey of melodic pads plus ceremonial chants, and the title cut “Más Allá” fuses tribal drum rhythms with mysterious melodies.

Each of the remixes adds something extra to this already stunning release. David Mayer lifts the tempo of Sian with a refined remix that elevates the track to soaring heights. Roderic add a hypnotic groove to “Obelisk” and Geju drop the tempo of “Pinneal” to deliver a version full of laid-back desert vibes.

The artwork by Helia Jamali visualizes the music leading our conscious mind to a clearer recognition of the higher self."

Überhaupt & Außerdem, @ueberhaupt_ausserdem Philipp and Andreas, children of the German reunification, born on different sides of the Berlin Wall. Twins - 50% east, 50% west. They initially bumped heads in the city of Tübingen as band members and promoters in the creative scene. Soon, they joined their longtime shared passion for electronic music and DJing, which quickly morphed into first independent productions.

Their style has since developed by plunging deeper into production techniques, contemplating the essence of musicality through external critique and constructive feedback - so far by renowned Artists as Solee, Dominik Eulberg and Björn Torwellen, amongst others. During the time of lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic they fully immersed into their creative work. The fruits of this time are now presented on the „After All“ EP which features the Canadian guitar prodigy Calum Graham and in addition comes with remixes by @deisenmusic , @guymaayanmusic and @julianogomez

Their sound might be perceived as downtempo with substantial attention to detail and complexity. It is sustained by an emotional touching spectrum of fluffy warmth to gloomy drive that never lacks attitude.

Later this year, you can expect more remixes, releases and podcasts among other content through Akasha MX and Katahaifisch.
